The Registered Dietitian (RD) performs medium and high-risk nutrition counseling services for participants on the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) at Mountain Park Health Center (MPHC).

Essential Functions:

• Perform WIC services and procedures such as categorical and income screening and health and nutrition assessments in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and procedures.
• Assesses and documents findings of the nutrition status of program participants.
• Plans, creates, and provides individual and group nutrition and breastfeeding education to medium and high-risk participants, providers, and professional staff utilizing interactive teaching methods and diverse multi-media materials and aids.
• Assists in developing policies and procedures to ensure nutrition objectives and interventions are consistent with accepted nutrition and public health guidelines.
• Consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding clinical nutrition issues or concerns, including customizing individual meal plans for program participants with medical needs.
• Develops staff skills and knowledge regarding nutrition and delivery of nutrition services through training, coaching, and mentoring.
• Assigns appropriate food packages for eligible participants based on age, category, health risks, and family needs and issues WIC food benefits.
• Reviews and authorizes special formulas and documents approved in HANDS.
• Evaluates WIC applicants and participant’s needs for health care, financial, and social assistance in order to make and document appropriate referrals.
• Develops and revises nutrition education materials as assigned.
• Assists with the MPHC Self-Assessment efforts by conducting assigned observations and chart reviews.
• Serves as preceptor to incoming dietetic interns and provides mentoring
• Travel to multiple locations during shift.
• Perform duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Registered Dietitian certification with the American Dietetic Association
• Valid driver’s license
• Current CPR Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in, or related field
• Bilingual in English and Spanish

Pay: $27.00 - $40.00 per hour
