Job Description:
Woodstock Union High School Middle School is looking for a High School, Professional School Counselor to assist our students with their academic, post-secondary, and social-emotional guidance and development.
We are looking for an individual that is a team player and knowledgeable with the ASCA National Model.
Applicants should adhere to the ASCA mindset: “Effective school counseling is a collaborative process involving school counselors, students, families, teachers, administrators, community leaders and other stakeholders.”
Job Duties:
- Conduct one-on-one academic planning and goal setting, assisting students in creating an academic
plan for their post-secondary venture.
- Work with students to develop executive functioning skills (i.e. time management and organization).
- Ability to support and grow positive school climate initiatives.
- Provide small/large group classroom guidance relating to the three realms of academic,
post-secondary, and social-emotional development.
- Provide appropriate referrals and share community resources when requested or recommended.
- Collaborate with families/teachers/administrators to provide necessary student guidance.
- Communicate with families regarding graduation requirements, post-secondary options, and
social-emotional concerns.
- Adhere to ethical standards of the counseling profession, and abide by the laws, policies, and
procedures that govern the school.
- Participate in professional associations and professional development opportunities
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Professional School Counseling
- A Valid Vermont Educators License with a Professional School Counseling Endorsement
- Experience and knowledge of the college admissions process
- 3 years of experience working with adolescents
- High Level of Integrity
