About the Program: Ahead of the 2024 elections, Movement Labs is launching a political tactic incubator with unprecedented ambition. Our goal is to explore, analyze, and scale innovative strategies that persuade, mobilize, and register voters to counteract Trump's influence. We are committed to investing millions in successful initiatives, focusing on new organizing programs and turnout tactics. These efforts will target low-turnout, high-opportunity voters in marginalized communities, persuade Republican voters toward President Biden, and enhance voter registration efforts. The objective is to garner 50,000 votes for Biden ahead of the November Election.

The SMS Lead will coordinate with all of the Incubator Mode Leads including the Digital Organizing, Organizing, Paid Digital and Special Projects Directors to manage all texting campaigns going out from the Incubator Team.

This role will be responsible for liaising between the Incubator Team and the Operations Team to ensure all SMS campaigns have copy and assets created, text campaigns are loaded and sent and volunteers are in place to support real-time canned responses. This role will report to the Operations Director and will work closely with the Incubator Director.

Our ideal candidate is a communications whiz and excited to push the envelope on new ways to grab voters attention. The candidate should have a deep familiarity of campaigns and progressive organizations’ digital needs. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented and has a get-it-done attitude.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the strategic planning and implementation of all SMS campaigns within the Incubator Team;
• Build systems within the Incubator Team to receive SMS requests and send text messages for pilot experiments;
• Collaborate with each Mode Lead, Digital Organizing Director, Digital Director, Organizing Director and Special Projects Director, to manage needs involving the execution of the SMS campaigns;
• Write excellent SMS copy for pilots, and work with the Digital Team to create assets alongside a Graphics Vendor;
• Coordinate with the Operations Team to ensure cohesion of SMS efforts;
• Empower and coordinate Movement Labs volunteers to respond to SMS messages;
• Manage lists and data requests alongside the Incubator’s Data Director;
• Administrative tasks as needed.

Our ideal candidate is someone who has:

• At least one cycle of experience in an organizing, digital or operations role on a campaign or part of an operations department;
• Familiarity with peer-to-peer texting platforms (Spoke preferred);
• Proven ability to write copy and edit work;
• Eye for design and creative digital elements;
• Enthusiasm for learning new tools and platforms;
• Experience and proficiency with budgets and comfort with numbers
• Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills;
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and strong attention to detail; and
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities
• Strong proficiency with, or ability to quickly learn, core tech tools: Airtable, Asana, Slack, Google Workspace;
• Passionate about fighting fascism and defeating Donald Trump by re-electing President Biden.
