MRG is Hiring an Accounting Specialist Near Norwood, MA

Accounting Specialist

Job Summary:

This position reports directly to the Accounting Office Manager and second to the VP of Operations and coordinates with the corporate Finance Team on a regular basis.

Primary focus is to assist with all accounting functions and participate in the daily work and monthly/quarterly/yearly close processes using double-entry accounting method, with emphasis on preparing various general ledger journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, amortization, depreciation, and other entries as required

Additional tasks in Payroll, Benefits, and HR

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

General Ledger:

Prepare reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts

Process Journal Entries for accrued expenses, fixed assets, payroll

Reconcile statements for multiple bank accounts

Participate in the month-end variance review against budget, prior month, and prior year

Assess variances when performing reconciliations, closings, and forecasting functions

Prepare financial models and ad hoc analysis reports as needed

Accounts Payable:

Maintain several hundred vendor accounts

Enter, verify, and review accounts payable ensuring accurate coding and recording

Resolve purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation, coordinating with purchasing dept, management personnel, and vendor representatives

Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances

Ensure credit is received from suppliers as necessary for returns and invoice discrepancies

Maintain paper and electronic filing systems of documents

Provide new vendors with documents to establish accounts

Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential

Compile and submit the weekly payment for timely payments to suppliers

Enter and verify supplier ACH information according to company protocols

Upload ACH files to bank website for payment

Accounts Receivable:

Daily posting and emailing of customer invoices

Send statements, follow-up on past due customer payments

Cash receipt entry and preparation of bank deposit for remote deposit

Research and set up of new customers

Ensure receipt of valid sales tax exemption certificates from customers

Assist customers with invoicing questions, coordinating with sales team

Payroll & HR:

Assist corporate payroll in all Payroll and HR matters related to HRIS system (Paycom)

Compiling weekly payroll hours; completing reports; maintaining records

Review department payroll reports and make/request corrections as needed

Assist in updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions

Ensures legal compliance by adhering to existing HR federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records and compliance with employee policies

Assist with recruitment, orientation, onboarding, and training processes

Assists employees with onboarding process and other payroll/HR matters

Creates records for new employees, updates existing employees' records

Other Duties:

Scheduling meetings for staff members

Maintaining various office and plant supplies

Communicate with suppliers and coworkers via email system

Answer telephone and route calls

Greet visitors and follow check-in procedures

Keep Certificates of Insurance; W-9, and other vendor information up to date

Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing other tasks as assigned

Education, Experience and Other Requirements:

3-5 Years in Accounting role

Minimum of 3 years in a Payroll /HR/Office management function

Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, including accrual accounting, and rules/regulations

Previous experience utilizing ERP system in a manufacturing environment helpful

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel

Must have extreme attention to detail, experience handling sensitive and confidential data, superior organizational skills, and multitasking ability to meet deadlines

Highly motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision and direction

Exceptional time management, communication, and problem-solving skills

Strong math and research skills

Ability to write clearly and concisely using good grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure

Ability to maintain sensitivity to ethnic, religious, cultural, and sexual differences

Must be reliable, have strong work ethic, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done and meet deadlines

Work Hours, Salary, & Benefits

Salary will be determined based on the candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities

This is a full-time, salary-exempt position in in a casual atmosphere

The regular hours are Monday -Friday

We offer health, dental, and vision upon hire and 401k, life, and disability insurance plans, as well as vacation, paid sick time, and paid holidays after specified waiting periods

Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 annual
