MSB Consulting is an educational consulting firm that works directly with the Special Education community. We help our clients maximize their reimbursements from the Medicaid to Schools program, providing much-needed funding back to the school districts that we serve. POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Backend Development Lead at MSB School Services, you'll spearhead the design and implementation of robust backend services and APIs using .NET/C#, Microsoft Azure, and Azure DevOps. Collaborating closely with the Development Manager, you'll shape technology strategy and lead projects to align with organizational goals. You'll work alongside front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements, ensuring an enhanced user experience. Responsibilities include maintaining code quality, performance, and scalability, adhering to best practices, and providing technical insights to the product team for innovation. Additionally, you'll manage analytics tools, stay updated on emerging technologies, mentor team members, support onboarding, and contribute to team growth.

Work Location: Texas-based, Remote/Home Office

Compensation:

• $95,000 - $115,000 annually

DUTIES

• Lead the design and implementation of backend services and APIs, primarily using .NET/C#, Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps;
• In collaboration with the Development Manager, lead technology strategy;
• Take lead on projects, as needed;
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic;
• Ensure code quality, performance, and scalability by conducting reviews, writing unit tests, and benchmarking;
• Write quality, testable code that adheres to industry best practices and company guidelines;
• Work closely with the product team to understand requirements and provide technical insights;
• Manage tools and processes for handling analytics data and metrics that measure and evaluate quality of user experience;
• Compile and analyze data and processes to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement;
• Contribute ideas for new products or features by monitoring industry developments and trends;
• Keep current with technology and developments within the technology space;
• Participate in continuing education and training to remain current on best practices, learn new programming languages, and better assist other team members;
• Act as a mentor to fellow Engineers, sharing knowledge and contributing to the team’s continued growth and improvement;
• Onboard new team members;
• Other duties as needed or required.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

• Bachelor’s degree in computer programming, computer science, or a related field;
• 5 years of backend development experience, with a focus on .NET and C#;
• 2 years of experience with Microsoft Azure cloud products;
• Proven leadership experience, ideally in a backend engineering capacity;
• Knowledge of software architecture patterns and best practices;
• Strong understanding of the web development cycle and programming techniques and tools;
• Strong knowledge of RESTful API design and development;
• Familiarity with React library and front-end frameworks is a plus;
• Focus on efficiency, user experience, and process improvement;
• Excellent project and time management skills;
• Strong problem solving and verbal and written communication skills;
• Ability to work independently or with a group;
• Willingness to sit at a desk for extended periods.
