Brief Position SummaryThe Associate Procurement Specialist is responsible for the execution of time-based purchasing of MRO distribution products and other functions that are vital to the success of our non-stock business. DUTIES And RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, the Associate Procurement Specialist will identify opportunities to improve or update existing practices and will create new processes for better efficiencies.
Manage the manual vendor reports to identify direct ship and cross-dock opportunities
Issue purchase orders, based on the manual vendor files, for both US and Canadian customers
Enter orders on vendor websites / ERP s as required by select suppliers
Resolve Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) holds
Issue P-Card (Department Purchasing Credit Card) orders via supplier websites
Reconcile P-Card purchases within the purchasing portal
RFQ Ticket Categorization via predefined incident templates
Spot Buys: Source and purchase out-of-stock product to fulfill our customer s needs. Determine the best solution based on availability and delivery to the customer
Manage purchase orders shipping from US to Canada and works to identify availability in Canada to save customs and freight costs
Works with warehouse associates to resolve trouble sheets, shipping errors, shortages
Expedites and devises alternative resourcing solutions to resolve backorders in a timely manner
Works with Logistics, to ensure the best cost saving freight options
Works cross-functionally with our Sale Support and Product and Bid Support teams to ensure customer needs and expectations are met and exceeded
Responsible for maintaining and resolving below dollar PO minimum report within specialized product lines
Will need to work in multiple systems: ASI, AS/400, SSG Excel tools and on-line portals internally and vendor websites and order entry portals externally
Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC s vision and unity of purpose.
Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

High School Diploma/GED required, Bachelor or associate degree preferred
Detailed knowledge of MRO distribution product lines preferred
Experience with high volume and varied workloads required
ASI / AS400 or similar program experience preferred
Skills
Very good written and verbal communication skills required
Excellent organizational skills, ability to maintain large amounts of data
PC aptitude in a Windows environment (Microsoft Office Excel, Access, Word, Power Point) preferred and the ability to learn other software packages required
Ability to research, data gather, analyze, interpret information and make recommendations
Proven ability to problem-solve, makes decisions, and initiate process improvements
Self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Other Requirements
A valid driver s license and the ability to travel up to 5% of the time may be required.
This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information ( ITAR ) and/or Controlled Unclassified Information ( CUI )
