Job DescriptionMuenster Milling is currently hiring a Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager for our new Freeze-Dried facility in Denton, Texas. As a Manager at our new expanding Denton facility, you are ultimately responsible for the facility’s production quality of our high-quality freeze dried pet food.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Quality Team to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene expectations of raw materials and finished products through sampling and inspection.
  • Lead direct reports (team of Quality Technicians) through training, development, recruiting, performance, continual feedback, ordering supplies and resources, assigning duties, reviewing documentation, and examining work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow while also finding solutions to quality, workflow and staffing problems.
  • Timely notify customer service, production and shipping in a timely manner of any held product that could result in potential delays in shipments.
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure coordination of other functions such as production, supply chain, customer service, sales, and warehouse to meet the daily company goals.
  • Serve as point of contact for the Pest Control Operator and assist with site visit findings. Alert management of findings noted in pest control operator reports.
  • Complete trace exercises of ingredient, packaging and finished products
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment while ensuring quality, quantity, customer satisfaction, and financial commitments are met.

Managerial Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for ensuring employees are performing based on company standards and provide training, guidance, and continual feedback to develop employee skills and provide consistent feedback on both positive and negative performance.
  • Participate in the hiring, discipline, and employment exit process for employees as required.
  • Lead by example, mentor, and train workers in all areas including, communication, conflict management and resolution.
  • Facilitate employee scheduling changes and time off, as needed.
Experience and Education:
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in quality management in a food manufacturing environment.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Quality and Food Safety leadership role
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Food Safety, Microbiology, Food Science, or related field
  • Knowledge of product traceability required.
  • Experience working with raw and fully cooked processed meats or poultry environment highly preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HACCP and GMPs
  • HACCP Certification and SQF Certification
  • Excellent organizational skills including time management, priority setting, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn and utilize job relevant software

  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of Food safety and sanitation protocols and procedures
  • Ability to work under pressure and make effective decisions
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team environment as well as with limited supervision
  • Commitment to complete work within established time parameters and within budget while flexible enough to meet special project deadlines as required
Food Safety & Quality Responsibilities:
  • Follow the proper handwashing, sanitization, cleanliness, dress and grooming requirements.
  • Adhere to SQF, FSMA, Sanitation, GMPs and HACCP requirements.
  • Follow the Company’s procedures and processes for food safety and worker safety.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly work within a plant environment. The work requires the ability to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and talk and listen. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Work Location / Travel:
The position is based in our Denton manufacturing facility. As a leader responsible for the functional area across the Company, the Food Safety and Quality Manager’s regular attendance and availability in all locations will be required. In addition, this role includes the ability to travel for business needs.
