Summer Special Education Paraeducator (Multiple positions)

Summer 2024

Effective Dates of Employment:

July 1 - August 1, 2024 (Monday - Wednesday the first week. Monday - Thursday all other weeks)

Summer Program Dates:

PreK: July 8 - August 1, 2024 Monday -Thursday

K-12: July 1 - August 1, 2024 Monday-Thursday

Location/Hours:

ECC: PreK, 8:15am - 1:45pm

Goodnow: K - 5, 8:15am - 1:45pm

MHS: 6 - 12, 7:45am - 1:15pm 

Salary:

$21.50 per hour for less than 3 years of paraeducator experience

$23.00 per hour for 3 or more years of paraeducator experience

Organizational Relationship or Line of Authority:

Reports to the Summer School Building Administrator, Summer School Coordinator for Special Education and Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Equity

Statement of Duties:

• Assists in the teaching process and works directly with children under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher or Special Needs teacher in class support.
• Assists in toileting with learners who need support.
• Lifts and carries certain learners who need support.
• Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the teacher, principal, supervisors/directors, directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee, and policies of the Marlborough School Committee.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
• Pass the Para-Pro test or successfully completing 48 undergraduate credits from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese) preferred 
• Prefer prior experience with children in a school or similar setting
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
