Multnomah Athletic Club is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Portland, OR

Are you a meticulous and driven accounting professional seeking a challenging and rewarding opportunity? At the Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC), we are looking for an enthusiastic Staff Accountant to join our team. You will coordinate and perform general accounting functions, ensuring our financial records are accurate and up-to-date. If you have a keen eye for detail, a passion for numbers, and a desire to contribute to a prestigious organization, we want to hear from you!

What You'll Do:

  • General Accounting: Maintain the general ledger chart of accounts, prepare and enter monthly journal entries, and reconcile various general ledger accounts.
  • Financial Reporting & Budgeting: Produce monthly internal financial statements and accompanying reports, assist in preparing the annual capital and operating budgets, and maintain these budgets in the computer system.
  • Payroll & Audit Support: Serve as the primary backup for the Payroll position, prepare schedules and information for the annual audit, and perform periodic test counts of physical inventories.
  • Benchmarking & Analysis: Develop weekly reports for benchmark analysis to support business decisions and work closely with department managers to provide necessary financial information and resources.
  • Process Improvement & Documentation: Drive process improvement and policy development initiatives, document accounting procedures, and ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Safety & Compliance: Identify and report unsafe or hazardous work conditions, report workplace injuries and illnesses to the supervisor, and promote the MAC code of conduct in club activities.
  • Member Assistance & Training: Assist members with account issues and inquiries, participate in all club-related training classes, and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Accounting Manager, Controller, or Club Director of Finance & Accounting.
  • Attendance: Maintain regular and predictable attendance to ensure smooth operations.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required, with three years of progressive full-circle accounting experience.
  • Proven knowledge of general accounting principles, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and payroll tax.
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Quick and effective learning of new software applications.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
  • Preferred experience in Food and Beverage and Hospitality accounting.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service, organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Mathematical aptitude with strong analytical ability.
  • Ability to work effectively in a service environment with member committees.
  • Capability to perform the essential job functions.
