The District Attorney Office is an exciting and rewarding career and come join a team of dedicated administrative legal professionals!

OA2 positions in our office require strong administrative skills. You must be able to work efficiently and accurately with confidential information which may require time sensitivity.

Some positions may focus more heavily with public contact, while others may focus more on data entry, telephones, photocopying and document management, etc.

Although you may be hired for a particular position, you will not always stay in that position and may be expected to cross train and work in many different positions in the office.

You must be flexible and willing to work in any of the positions described below. Work schedules are typically Monday through Friday from 8 : 00 am to 4 : 30 pm or 8 : 30 am to 5 : 00 pm.

However, we also have positions starting at 7 : 30 am.

We're currently looking to fill positions located at the Central Courthouse 1200 SW 1st Avenue Suite #5200, Portland, Oregon.

Below is a brief summary of various OA2 positions in our office.

RECEPTIONIST : There are several receptionist positions throughout our office. These positions are found in the Central Courthouse, East County Courthouse, Juvenile, and Intake.

Receptionists are primarily responsible for greeting & assisting the public by phone & in-person.

SUBPOENA CLERK : Almost every unit in the District Attorney’s Office has a subpoena clerk. The clerk sends out hundreds of subpoenas weekly to victims & witnesses to notify them of trial or grand jury dates.

DISCOVERY CLERK : The Discovery Unit is responsible for preparing police reports and other records for defendants & defense attorneys to pick up.

RECORDS / DOCKET CLERK : The Records / Misdemeanor / DUII & Traffic Units contain thousands of DA case files. There are various dockets each day that each department must pull files for.

INTAKE CLERK : The Intake Unit is responsible for receiving Misdemeanor police reports from multiple law enforcement agencies, uploading them to our case management system to set the cases up for the Deputy District Attorneys to review.

SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT DIVISION RECEPTIONIST : Act as primary receptionist during all needed coverage time. Process incoming mail, direct phone calls and assist walk-in traffic.

Required Minimum Qualifications / *Transferable Skills

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade; AND

Minimum of two (2) years of general office support or customer service experience dealing directly with the public; which can include but is not limited to processing legal documents and correspondence, printing, filing, recording information, answering calls and referring callers to appropriate personnel.

College level coursework with emphasis in Clerical, Legal Clerical, Secretarial, Criminal Justice, Government, Law, Political Science, or a related field may substitute for up to one year of experience.

Additional clerical, legal clerical, or administrative training is desirable.

Experience providing professional customer service to diverse communities.

Experience working with high level confidential information.

Ability to organize and prioritize work and accuracy with detail are required.

Must be able to work together as a team under pressure with time sensitivity.

Must be flexible and able to fill in at any of several desks on short notice.

Ability to be proficient with using standard applications and criminal justice databases to input and retrieve sensitive information (Microsoft Office;

Word and Excel, Adobe, Crimes, LEDs etc.)

Preferred Special Qualifications / Transferable Skills :

Bilingual highly preferred (will require a language proficiency exam)

Prior research experience in a criminal justice agency.

Prior work in a public sector organization within the last five years.

LEDS Certification, knowledge of and / or experience using legal terminology is highly desirable.

Transferable skills : Your transferable skills are any skills you have gained through education, work experience (including the military) or life experience that are relevant for this position.

Candidates must successfully pass a thorough criminal background check and post -offer urine drug screen.
