Mundo Verde PCS is Hiring a Nutrition and Compliance Manager Near Washington, DC

Nutrition and Compliance Manager


Job Overview:
The Nutrition and Wellness Manager will serve as a key member of the School Nutrition Team. The position will work collaboratively with the Kitchen Manager/Lead Chef and the Senior Food Manager to create menus, oversee compliance for the National School Breakfast and Lunch programs, and provide technical and logistical support for both campus kitchens.


Reports To:
The Nutrition and Wellness Manager reports to the Senior Food Manager.


Responsibilities and Duties

Menu Planning

  • Work with both Kitchen Manager/Lead Chef’s to design and document innovative menus that meet the National School Lunch Program guidelines and serve our community
  • Run nutrient analysis on the menus and make sure all cycle menus are compliant
  • Make available nutrition documentation for our parent community
  • Collaborate with other S.F.A.’s to share menu development
  • Manage recipe documentation and order guides through menu planning software
  • Collaborate with Communications team to update and post monthly menu and nutrient analysis

Food Nutrition Ambassador

  • Engage with Mundo Verde community and create food engagement opportunities
  • Positively represent the Mundo Verde Meals Program in the community


NSLP Compliance


  • Prepare nutrient analysis on menus for both campuses and make sure all cycle menus are compliant
  • Maintain menu compliance records
  • Manage meal counts; liaise with teachers when needed
  • Coordinate with the Extended Day Director/Coordinator to maintain compliant records of aftercare snack and summer programming.
  • Work with vendors to receive quarterly local sourcing reports for submission to OSSE
  • Work with Kitchen Manager/Lead Chef and Senior Food Manager to accurately record micro purchases
  • Provide support and assistance in preparation for NSLP audit


Food Service

  • Assist the Senior Food Manager and Kitchen Manager/Lead Chef’s with procurement; finding healthy and quality products with a focus on local sourcing and documenting the purchasing to OSSE
  • Promote positive food culture, encourage healthy eating behaviors and promote new menus
  • Assist kitchen teams with managing breakfast and lunch lines when needed
  • Collaborate with Meals Coordinator to create classroom bag lists and maintain updated allergy lists
  • Collect and submit all invoices for prompt payment


Other

  • Partner with teachers to implement food education into classrooms
  • Support Senior Food Program Manager with implementation of community Health and Wellness initiatives
  • Create a food education curriculum to compliment the cooking and gardening class
  • Attend Field studies and be an expert in classrooms for expeditions
  • Attend and participate in team meetings
  • Meet bi-weekly with supervisor to evaluate progress, growth and performance using Mundo Verde’s evaluation process
  • Support school safety and logistics

Qualifications, Skills and Values


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or similar field preferred
  • Relevant work or volunteer experience required
  • Skilled at using applications, such as Excel and Google Sheets, to input, edit, calculate, and manipulate numbers and data
  • Proficiency with Google suite, Microsoft Office, and email
  • Experience with Mosaic nutritional software a plus
  • A food manager license, or the ability to obtain one, is required
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred but not required
  • Experience with child nutrition programs in school and sustainable practices beneficial

Other Job Details

  • Schedule: 8 hour day
  • Location: Network
  • Position Type: This is a 12-month salaried which is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act
  • Employment subject to TB test, fingerprinting and background check
