Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board is Hiring an Associate Market Research and Data Specialist Near Washington, DC

Description
SUMMARY
Entry-level position responsible for supporting the Director of Research and Market Transparency as well as other members of the Market Structure Group with an emphasis on gathering, organizing and analyzing data using standard statistical methods and tools. The Associate Market Research and Data Specialist will also perform general market research and quantitative analysis pertinent to a variety of market structure initiatives, including support of ad- hoc and on-going data requests from internal and external stakeholders. Must be comfortable effectively conducting and clearly communicating the results of quantitative analysis, including contributing to research reports, to a wide range of stakeholders, including to senior executives.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Gathers and analyzes data using standard statistical methods tools
  • Develops appropriate methodology for collecting, analyzing, and presenting results by creating graphs, tables, charts and dashboards
  • Understands and contributes to business requirements and how to apply appropriate solutions
  • Evaluates the findings of analytical analysis thoughtfully and methodically with close attention to detail
  • Conducts presentations on analysis results including conclusions on the accuracy, usefulness, and completeness of the data as well as contributing to research reports when appropriate
  • Works closely with MSRB technical and operational support staff, including data analysts, when acquiring and extracting necessary data
  • Supports Google Analytics efforts by gathering, analyzing and presenting web traffic data to support organization objectives
  • When appropriate, supports IT initiatives of Market Structure sponsored projects
  • Assists with other departmental needs in support of Market Structure department
  • Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or entry level experience in Market Research. Strong Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and project management skills are required. Familiarity with one or more statistical software programs or languages (e.g., SAS) or data querying languages (e.g., SQL) required. Competency with Google Analytics is preferred. Previous work experience preferred. Attention to detail and follow-up is essential, along with strong research and analytical skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment. Must be able to manage multiple diverse assignments and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communications skills and problem-solving skills are required.
Listed above is targeted salary range for a new hire into this role. Final compensation decisions will be based upon a candidate's relevant skills and experience.
