Mural City Cellars, Philly's first urban winery, is looking for enthusiastic individuals looking for seasonal work at our 2024 summer Wine Garden and various farmers markets. This position runs from mid-May to mid-October. Staff members will assist with all aspects of running our seasonal pop-up and selling wine at farmers markets within the city of Philadelphia

Pay is $20 per hour with approximately two to three shifts per week. The Garden is open Friday 4-10 PM and Saturdays 12-10 PM. Weekend farmers markets currently take place on the second Saturday of the month and on the first and third Sundays of the month, but are subject to change. There will also be occasional event hours during the week.

Joining our Wine Garden Staff will be the perfect position for someone enthusiastic about East Coast wine or eager to learn. Staff will report to the co-owner and work alongside a small, passionate team. DESCRIPTION OF GARDEN DUTIES:

• Educating guests about the Mural City Cellars brand
• Maintaining extensive knowledge about our wine and winemaking process
• Assist guests in choosing the perfect wine
• Opening bottles, pouring glasses, opening beverages, and collecting payment
• Setting up and breaking down the garden at opening and close
• Keeping the garden beautiful through cleaning and maintaining the property
• Accurately checking guest IDs
• Maintaining excellent hospitality in a fast-paced environment
• Other duties as assigned

DESCRIPTION OF FARMERS MARKET DUTIES:

• Setting up and breaking down farmers market stand
• Engaging with any and all shoppers and offer excellent customer experience
• Being prepared to answer any and all questions regarding MCC wines, wine making process, MCC as a business, our various spaces, and event inquiries
• Bagging bottles and collecting payment
• Maintaining accurate inventory and sales information and reporting it to management

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be available for on the job training during garden hours and one additional training outside of garden hours (when the winery is open)
• Hard working, ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work well with other employees
• Flexibility to a changing environment
• Extensive walking and standing, and ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
• Exposure to outside elements and physical work (lifting, bending, climbing, squatting)
• Must be 21 years of age at the time of hire
• Previous wine experience (preferred but not required!)
• Able to provide own transportation and transport 4-6 cases of wine, a cooler, a folding table, and a box of event supplies
