Job Summary:

The Receptionist handles greeting and directing residents, visitors, vendors, and guests, and performs general office management tasks.

Essential Functions of the Job:

1. Represents the facility in the most professional manner at all times. Must greet all visitors and direct them
2. Assures that all visitors, residents, and professionals sign in and out properly.
3. Maintains organized and clean reception area.
4. Remains at receptionist desk or nearby while on duty.
5. Is observant and aware of any situation or occurrence in the facility that may pose a safety hazard to residents or staff. Reports such observations immediately to supervisor or Executive Director.
6. Answers telephones promptly and properly, assuring each caller is treated courteously and is referred appropriately. Takes accurate messages and assures that staff receive messages promptly.

Education and Experience:

High School degree or equivalent required. Must be able to read written direction, comprehend verbal instructions, and write at a level necessary to accomplish this job. Type at least 60 wpm and have experience using computers, telephones, printers, copiers, and fax machines.

Certifications, Licenses, and other Special Requirements:

Must have a current Tuberculosis skin test or chest x-ray. Must pass criminal background check. Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.

Essential Skills:

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Exemplary excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate must also be experienced in a position requiring frequent interaction with the public and present a professional image at all times. The candidate must be able to assist and interact with seniors in a caring, kind, and respectful manner .
