Job Description SummaryThe outpatient Cancer and Blood Disorders Clinic in SJCH is seeking a nurse coordinator to provide individualized, goal-directed patient care to patients and families at the expert level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process. We are looking for an individual who is motivated to build relationships with both team members and patients to enhance clinic efficiency, education, and community outreach to improve our patients' outcomes.
The pediatric hematology oncology RN coordinator will participate as an expert practitioner in a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities. RN coordinator will work with multidisciplinary team to deliver quality and safety of care through the continuum of care from the patient’s first clinic visit and throughout the continuation of their care. This position will directly report to the Ambulatory Service Manager for the outpatient Cancer and Blood Disorders Clinic at SJCH.

Job Summary/Purpose: Job duties include utilizing the nursing process (Assessment, Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation & Evaluation) in coordinating care for patients in the clinic setting. This includes order entry, patient message and phone call management, patient education, care planning, ensuring patient appointments are made, anticipating patient needs, and working closely with the RN Navigator between systems, locations, and types of therapy offered (Rad/Onc, Surgery, Chemotherapy, Palliative Care, Survival). They will also work closely with the other clinical team members (Physicians, APPs, CMAs, LPNs, RNs, Pharmacists, etc.) and coordinate care appropriately during clinic.
Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing and three years related nursing experience. Some positions require certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA).
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Some positions require certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider."
