Job Description Summary

Job Summary: The program coordinator II coordinates research studies related to genomic medicine and implementation science. They will develop, execute, and manage funded research projects, including overseeing research regulatory compliance, data management, organization of meetings, detailed reporting, achievement of milestones, and completion of progress reports. They also develop applications for human subjects’ research and are responsible for reporting projects and trials to ClinicalTrials.gov. The individual will support quantitative and qualitative data collection. The program coordinator works with the principal investigator to develop grant proposals including assistance with writing various sections of proposals and manuscripts. In multisite proposals, they visit sites led by BMIC to ensure compliance with protocols. This position is mostly on-site/in-office or at clinic.

Job Description

Job Duties:

35% - Lead research projects including startup, development of implementation plans, timelines, operational logistics, and close-out. Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and study specific protocols and processes. Work closely with PI, other research staff, and network affiliates to define and coordinate data capture requirements and study participant engagement. Understand the needs of the study and facilitate resolutions to issues. Ensure all milestones are identified and tracked throughout the research lifecycle. Perform proper study shutdown and archival. - (Essential)

35% - Assist with the development of new research proposals. Organize and assemble content for grant, manuscript, or presentations and posters. Oversee ongoing status reports for PI. Monitor project metrics, evaluate the process, and work to identify areas for research process improvement.

15% - Oversee development of human subjects’ research materials for the institutional review board (IRB). Address compliance issues, such as protocol deviations, adverse events, and amendments. Act as one of multiple departmental IRB liaisons and manage protocols in the electronic IRB system (eIRB) in accordance with appropriate PI leadership and guidance. Efficiently coordinate assigned clinical trials, including interacting with study participants, physicians, SCTR Nexus, Investigational Drug Services, Sponsors/Clinical Research Organizations and other MUSC clinical departments as appropriate. Oversee maintenance of source/case report forms, eCRFs/databases and archived files for each study to comply with federal guidelines for human research. Supervise the documentation of accurate and complete data files on study participants and ensure records are properly stored, organized and available to monitors from the IRB, sponsor or FDA. Works closely with the Principal Investigator in assisting with administrative aspects for assigned projects. - (Essential)

15% - Education and outreach including creation, maintenance, and reviewing educational materials and lay summaries.
