PRIMARY FUNCTION: The job of Supervisor of Georgia Teacher Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy (GaTAPP) provides support for this job-embedded, classroom-based non-traditional teacher preparation program for candidates to earn an induction teaching certificate and positively impact student achievement through research-based pedagogy.
Requirements

• Educational Level:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution in job related area

• Certification/License:

Valid Georgia teaching certification

• Experience:

5 or more years’ successful teaching experience in K-12 public education. Experience with special education preferred.

Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities

• Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Ability to work with diverse educational, civic, and community groups. Strong organizational skills and competency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to adapt to changing technology solutions.
Essential Functions

• Builds effective relationships with teacher candidates as well as school and district personnel.
• Maintains regular communication with teacher candidates and serves as the teacher’s primary GaTAPP contact after program admission through program completion.
• Observes GaTAPP candidates in a classroom environment and provides feedback to candidates via conferences and evaluation forms.
• Ensures that all records and forms are kept, completed, and submitted as required by GaTAPP.
• Teaches and assesses educator competencies, skills, and dispositions.
• Reviews/assesses candidate on-line program requirement submissions.
• Schedules and leads the Candidate Support Team (CST) which consists of the GaTAPP Supervisor, school-based administrator, Teacher Support Coach/mentor, and teacher candidate.
• Provides training for GaTAPP mentors as it relates to the program.
• Provides input concerning candidates’ strengths and opportunities for growth and makes suggestions accordingly.
• Provides assistance to GaTAPP candidates as needed/requested.
• Assists in the development and assessment of trainings, courses, candidates, and GaTAPP processes.
• Actively participates in scheduled supervisor meetings, trainings, and GaTAPP celebration events.
• Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met.
