Overview:
We are seeking a part-time Academic Advisor to join our team at a prestigious university. The Academic Advisor will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting students throughout their academic journey.
Responsibilities:
- Provide academic advising to students on course selection, degree requirements, and academic goals
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address student needs
- Analyze student progress and assist in developing educational plans
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure student success
- Utilize advising tools such as PeopleSoft or Ellucian to track student information
- Assist students in navigating university policies and procedures
- Conduct intake interviews to assess student needs and goals
- Educate students on resources available for academic support
Skills:
- Experience working with students in an academic setting
- Strong analytical skills to assess student progress and develop educational plans
- Proficiency in using advising software such as PeopleSoft or Ellucian
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, faculty, and staff
- Ability to provide individual and group counseling sessions
- Knowledge of academic advising best practices and university policies
