Muskegon County is Hiring a COMPREHENSIVE JAIL ASSESSMENT SPECIALIST Near Muskegon, MI

The Comprehensive Jail Assessment Specialist under the direction of a Program Supervisor, serves to facilitate screening and assessment for individuals in custody, support the coordination of care and facilitate any initial workflow process of intake and ensure successful entrance onto a treatment team for consumers per medical necessity. The Comprehensive Jail Assessment Specialist is responsible for collecting clinical information, synthesizing needs and strengths in a concise report format, and facilitating forward movement to an appropriate treatment team. The Comprehensive Jail Assessment Specialist may link consumers to care opportunities available while in custody and to community resources based on short-term need. Assessments occur by scheduled appointment and may be in person or through a telehealth format.1. Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a human services field, such as psychology, social work, or human services OR be eligible to graduate within 90 days of application and able to submit an official transcript upon appointment to position. AND 
2. Have a minimum of (2) years of work experience with persons experiencing Substance Use Disorder and/or Co-occurring illness.
3. Be a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) as issued by MCBAB.
4. Must meet the requirements for a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP), Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) and/or Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP) MDHHS designation.
5. Possess a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a Michigan Driver License within 30 days of employment.
6. Must have reliable transportation that may have to be used to carry out job duties of this classification.
Preferred but not Required
1. Bilingual candidates are highly desired.
2. Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
3. Individuals in Recovery and individuals with experience in Armed Services valued.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

An employee in this class performs generally sedentary work requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

An employee in this class generally works in the offices of HealthWest, although travel to other County locations and out of the County travel may be required.EVALUATION CONTENT
Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
