GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Manager will ensure the provision of safe and comprehensive care and coordination of services through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited educational program for Registered Nurse
  • Completion of an approved pharmacology course and current CPR certification required.
  • Up to date immunizations as required by MVHC.
  • Excellent time management and written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills, pleasant phone etiquette
  • Basic computer skills and detail oriented
  • Positive role model for staff with leadership potential
  • Five years of service line clinical experience
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs with or without an accommodation.
  • Carry up to 20 lbs occasionally.
  • Standing 1-2 hours at a time
  • Walking approx. 30 minutes per hour throughout the day.
  • Withstanding pressure and deals with emergency situations as needed.
  • Average working hours with possible non-traditional hours.
  • Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids.
  • Ability to deal with upset or disgruntle patients in order to deescalate the situation.

  • Reviews and complies with regulatory standards and maintains privacy and confidentiality at all times
  • Assists in and oversees the care coordination of high risk, complex patients (see Care Coordinator job description)
  • Creates and maintains an environment that respects cultural, economic, ethnic and lifestyle differences of patients, visitors and staff
  • Uses service area and organizational communication to maintain current information and provide ongoing communication to service line staff
  • Maintains service area environment and equipment so that it is safe and usable appropriate to the age of the patients served.

  • Recognizes stress in others and utilizes appropriate resources to reduce stress
  • Positively and appropriately accepts direction and constructive input from Leadership.

  • Make decisions based on what’s best for MVHC’s patients.
  • Support co-workers while building collaborative, positive relationships throughout the organization and community in order to share knowledge and experience to benefit the patient.
  • Complies with all MVHC’s policies and procedures for safety and infection control and oversees compliance of service line staff
  • Attend mandatory trainings and participate in service area, committees and task force
  • Participates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of service area policies, procedures, protocols and standards
  • Adheres to all MVHC’s policies and procedures fully cooperating with the MVHC Compliance Program.
MVHC ACCOUNTABILITY FOR OWN GROWTH AND COMPETENCY AND PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES THAT CONTRIBUTES TO THE GROWTH AND COMPETENCY OF OTHERS.
  • Assumes responsibility for successful completion of annual competencies for self and clinical staff
  • Completes annual performance reviews for all staff in service line
  • Conducts ongoing monitoring of service line staff performance providing the necessary coaching and counseling
  • Responsible for own continuing professional development
  • Serves as a preceptor, as defined in the service area, to a newly hired nurse
  • Orients new personnel to the service area and teaches using formal and informal methods
SPECIFIC DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conducts monthly service line staff meetings
  • Complete weekly payroll and monitor staff adherence to time and attendance policies
  • Manage patient care through appropriate delegation, supervision, and resource management, including efficient use of own time
  • Assign staff schedule monthly, monitor staff levels daily.
  • Attend scheduled Leadership meetings and training.
  • Monitor patient throughput and identify any barriers, collaborating with providers to ensure efficient patient flow
  • Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Chart reviews for UDS requirements as requested.
  • Room patient in order to collect medical history, provide patient education and obtain informed consents
  • Perform point of care testing and run daily quality control test. Follow guidelines set forth for storage and transport of specimens. Document lab test results.
  • Perform EKGs and simply procedures as directed (i.e., ear flush, lice check, etc...).
  • Perform hearing and vision screenings as directed.
  • Ability to schedule consults, tests, referrals and prior authorization.
  • Telephone skills, including scheduling, triage and handling patient and provider inquiries.
  • Document refrigerator temperatures.
  • Assist with ordering and stocking of supplies, replenish as needed.
  • Room set up, clean up and restock
  • Administer vaccinations and medications within scope and as needed.
  • Complete controls and logs for urine dip sticks, nitrazine, pregnancy tests, Hgb A1C’s, Hgbs, FSBSG.
  • Ability to check and calibrate equipment used requiring calibration and sterilization of equipment
  • Assist providers with procedures and the delivery of quality patient care. Able to maintain sterile technique.
  • Tracking of imaging and lab results.
  • Maintain up to date education as it relates to EPIC.
  • Document all patient information in patient room promptly and accurately
  • Assist in organizing medical information as needed prior to the visit.
  • Ability to call in Rx accurately.
  • Respond promptly to patient calls and requests.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Assist the patient in obtaining, processing, and understanding basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions.
