JOB SUMMARY

The CNC-Coiler Assistant/Apprentice position is designed to give hands on experience with Spring Manufacturing equipment in a support role. The goal is to support the primary operators by performing duties listed below to allow them time to focus on the programming and final stages of part set-up. Depending on aptitude, mechanical skill, and work habits; the assistant/apprentice can transition into a full CNC operator role as needed.

Hours: Monday-Thursday 1:55pm-12:25am

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Unload wire from machines that have completed production. Wire sheets are to be completed as necessary and wire for the next job will be requested and loaded onto the payoff reel.
  • Bring production parts to quality or elsewhere as appropriate.
  • Changeover feed tooling appropriate for wire size and string wire.
  • Pull up program where applicable and set tooling based off of previous manufacturing notes where possible.
  • Help monitor machines including inspections and measurements (SPC, Statistical Process Control) where parts are running to allow primary operators time to focus on set-up.
  • Identify tooling required for parts and put request through to have tooling made where appropriate.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machines and ovens as time permits.
  • Monitor machine operations and stop if a problem occurs.
  • Removes finished work pieces from machine and sets aside defective pieces.
  • Capable of reading and completing work orders.
  • Other tasks as requested.

SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Ability to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Capability of working from verbal instructions.
  • Engage in a team environment to resolve issues.
  • Ability to work independently on primary responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn the use of calipers, micrometers and load test equipment.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Full training will be provided for this position.
