My Place Hotels is Hiring a Hotel Maintenance and Landscaping Technician - Housing options available Near Moab, UT

We are seeking to hire a hardworking, motivated individual for our full-time Maintenance and Landscaping position at the My Place Hotel in Moab, UT. This individual is responsible for the repairs, maintenance, landscaping, upkeep, and replacement of the property's systems in accordance with hotel standards.

Summary

The Maintenance position completes routine and preventive maintenance according to the daily maintenance checklist and repairs all areas of the hotel as needed. Continually monitors the hotel for any hazardous conditions and corrects as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must be able to follow guidelines and procedures and accept feedback from supervisor.
  • Completes routine and preventive maintenance according to items listed on the daily maintenance checklist and repairs all areas of the hotel, including guest rooms, grounds and public areas. Listed below are examples of duties to be performed and fixtures and equipment that might need maintenance (not all items are listed):

h. Telephones

  • Keeps completed maintenance checklist of all work performed on all areas of the hotel. Maintains this checklist daily.
  • Is part of the hotel's security team and is responsible for immediately reporting any potential safety or security hazards to management.
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs.
  • Must have current valid drivers license.


Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Schedules regular preventive maintenance program on equipment such as vacuum cleaners, HVAC units, washers and dryers and housekeeping cards to keep them in good working condition; follows manufacturer's procedures and safety recommendations.
  • Implements and schedules guestroom preventive maintenance program.
  • Paints or touches up areas of the hotel as needed or when assigned.
  • Keeps all outside areas clean including building, parking lot, and lawn and trash receptacle area.
  • Checks all exterior lighting; replace bulbs where accessible; notify management where not accessible.
  • Uses power tools in a careful manner using protective eyewear and clothing, as necessary, following manufacturer's specifications.
  • Completes maintenance on lawn and planted area inducing cutting, weed control, fertilizing and watering when assigned.
  • Shampoos guest rooms and public area carpets as assigned.
  • Whirlpool, Jacuzzi, spa or hot tub maintenance (if hotel has facilities). Conducts routine water tests, treats water with approved treatment chemical. Keeps area clean. All chemicals must be stored and handled in accordance with BBP, OSHA and Hazcomm 2012 standards. Local and state certification may be required to test and treat the whirlpool, Jacuzzi, spa or hot tub.
  • Performs basic maintenance on company vehicles (if hotel has a vehicle) have the oil changed, check oil, tire pressure and cleaning etc.
  • Continually monitors hotel premises for any hazardous conditions and corrects as necessary. Immediately notifies general manager of any hazardous conditions.
  • Coordinates replacement of furniture, fixtures and equipment with general manager.
  • Rotates guest room mattresses and box springs as required (two people required for this task).
  • Replaces empty containers of cleaning and laundry supplies with full containers. Full containers weighing approximately 40 to 50 lbs. must be placed on shelving approximately 8 to 60 inches from the flow.
  • Performs any additional duties that the general manager or assistant manager may assign from time to time.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A MAINTENANCE WORKER / LANDSCAPER

As part of our maintenance and landscaping team, you have the opportunity to spend time outdoors as you ensure that the exterior of our hotel is clean and appealing. The first impression we give our guests begins when they drive into our parking lot. To ensure that their first impression of My Place is a positive one, you keep the exterior of our hotel clean and make sure that our landscaping is in top shape.

You also complete building maintenance to keep everything in working order. You enjoy solving problems and working with your hands. Your eye for detail is essential as you maintain the cleanliness of public areas such as stairwells, hallways, and elevators. Due to your hard work and attention to detail, both employees and guests alike are able to enjoy our beautiful hotel both inside and out.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of hotel maintenance experience
  • Previous guest relations experience and/or training
  • Any building trade license/certificate in the state of Utah


WORK SCHEDULE

The typical schedule for this Maintenance Worker / Landscaper position is Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30 pm or Weekends with 2 weekdays off.
