Job: Emergency Management Specialist

Job Description:
This position is responsible for assisting in the coordination of emergency preparedness training courses and exercises requiring involvement from the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) Division of Emergency Preparedness (DEP). This position coordinates with requesting entities to obtain specific healthcare emergency preparedness trainings. Furthermore, this position provides technical assistance in the design of emergency preparedness exercises/drills. This individual will focus on assisting the Training and Exercise Coordinator to complete the aforementioned duties and tasks.
Duties:
· Coordinate with DEP planning staff to ensure staff and external stakeholders are trained to the IDOH response plans
· Assist in agency development of specific training and educational modules relative to agency plans
· Assist in the development of an Integrated Preparedness Plan Workshop (IPPW) annually with IDOH-designated partners and stakeholders
· Assist partners in the development and delivery of trainings for internal IDOH staff and external stakeholders
· Assist external partners with exercise evaluation and improvement planning
· Stay updated on course offerings that are posted on Indiana’s training enrollment and tracking system
· Help to ensure division exercises follow an all-hazards and HSEEP consistent approach
· Assist in ensuring that lessons learned and improvement plans resulting from exercises are communicated to appropriate staff so that they may be incorporated during updates to plans and procedures
· Assist in Coordinating with DEP staff to ensure division plans are exercised and staff competencies are evaluated to ensure optimal functionality
· Liaise with other IDOH divisions and programs regarding training and the development of exercises
· Assist in providing technical assistance to Agency customers
· Liaison with Healthcare Coalition leaders and Local Health Departments in order to foster a streamlined approach to scheduling training courses
Requirements:

· Proficiency with Office Suite
· Willing to travel for training as necessary
· (Not necessary – but would like to see healthcare or first responder background)
Prior working experience as an assistant for program management, program development or program training.
