Markets Advisory is JLL's most commercially significant business line that helps occupiers and investors of real estate find and obtain locations to serve their needs, and also offers property management services to real estate owners. Leasing services represent the majority of our revenue, with more than 38,000 leasing transactions representing more than 840 million square feet in 2023. Professionals in our Property and Asset Management business work with real estate owners of office, industrial, retail spaces, and more to property manage approximately ~3 billion square feet on their behalf. We also provide Advisory and Consulting services to support our client engagements.
Director, Markets Advisory Communications
The Markets Advisory comms team is a new function at JLL, so this leadership role has the opportunity to shape the future, reporting to the Global Head of Communications for Markets Advisory. The Director will be responsible for developing and executing an integrated internal and external communications program for JLL's Leasing and Property Management businesses in the Americas, aligned with our purpose, multi-year business vision, and values of teamwork, ethics and excellence.
This position may be based in any major U.S. market with a JLL corporate office, though Boston, Chicago, and Dallas are preferred.
Specific responsibilities
  • Manages and mentors a small team of internal and external communications professionals who lead Americas-wide communications for Markets Advisory, with particular focus on the U.S. market.
  • Responsible for advancing employee engagement internally and strengthening JLL's market presence and brand externally.
  • Serves as strategic advisor to the Global Head of Markets Communications and would be our Americas representative on the Global Markets Advisory communications board, along with representatives from the EMEA and APAC regions. Together, these leaders work together to develop integrated, consistent global communications campaigns for Markets Advisory professionals around the world.
  • Business partner to Leasing and Property Management leaders in the U.S. market. Prepares speeches, scripts and presentations for executive-level speaking engagements.
  • Develops a deep understanding of the client voice and business needs for long term success. Likely serves as primary comms representative to select leadership groups in the U.S. once settled into the role.
  • Learns quickly to understand business challenges, and translates them into clear and crisp messaging points, providing comms counsel to senior leaders.
  • Develops robust strategic communication plans that include digital, on-demand and multi-channel execution; introduces and implements new ideas and best practices to drive audience engagement.
  • Helps develop the strategic narrative and owns execution on global and regional campaigns in the U.S.
  • Partner and maintain relationships across the Marketing team and other Corporate Functions for connectivity and consistency to bring the best of JLL to the Markets Advisory business.
  • Nurtures relationship and execution of local PR and internal comms efforts within U.S. markets, collaborating with on-the-ground teams to do so.
  • Takes on special projects as needed to further business objectives and support key stakeholders.
Candidate profile
  • 10 years of communications expertise, with a well-rounded background in both internal and external comms strategies and execution.
  • Executive presence to be a trusted advisor to senior executives.
  • Creative problem solver who embraces ambiguity as a fun challenge.
  • Change agile and enjoys the thrill of transformation.
  • Background working in a global, matrixed organization preferred.
  • College degree required; advanced degree welcome.
  • Experience leading teams and mentoring and developing talent.
