Job DescriptionJob SummaryThe Regional Construction Manager is responsible for working with and supporting development, engineering, permitting, supply chain, contracts, procurement, project & construction management to develop, license, permit, erect/install, start-up, and commence commercial operations of multiple energy projects at any given time including but not limited to Wind (new & repower), Solar & Battery Storage energy.
The Regional Construction Manager will work closely with the Project Directors & Construction Managers, providing guidance to the Project Management team for the needs of the project.
The Regional Construction Manager is actively involved in negotiations for the project and is responsible for the overall supervision of the site management teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provides support and guidance in the planning, execution, and monitoring and turnover of each renewable energy construction project within the region.
  • Provides support and guidance in the developing and managing project schedules, assistance with budgets, and resources to ensure on-time and within-budget project delivery.
  • Coordinates with internal teams, contractors, subcontractors, third party contactors to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Provides guidance and support to the project team related to stakeholder management including landowners, regulatory agencies, local communities, and government officials.
  • Facilitates communication and collaboration between the stakeholders to address concerns, resolve issues, and ensure project success.
  • Represent the company in meetings, public hearings, and other forums to promote project development and build positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ensures the implementation of quality control processes to ensure construction activities meet regulatory standards and company requirements, processes, and goals.
  • Participates in root cause analysis investigations and drive closure of accompanying action items.
  • Responsible for Owner's Site Management teams during the project implementation phases on multiple energy projects.
  • Responsible for supporting pre-construction management, supply chain, procurement, contracts during project development and pre-construction phases.
  • Works directly with Project Directors and Construction Managers to ensure that project milestones are met safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Supports development, meteorology, engineering and permitting teams on new project micro-sitings.
  • Ensures sufficient project staffing of internal and external resources during construction phases.
  • Provides periodic updates on project activities, progress, and issues to company senior management.
  • Ensures process feedback for identifying process efficiencies and improvements, including process and functional quality audits, and focusing on retention of "lessons learned".
  • Ensures all relevant internal controls are followed and develops new controls as needed.
  • Responsible for working closely with the safety management team to ensure that sites are enforcing strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and meeting Avangrid's safety standards.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in construction or engineering management, or 10 years related construction experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects from conception to completion.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Electrical generation project development and project management, with a working knowledge of construction law, contracts, claims avoidance, insurance, and contract administration.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including effective negotiating and dispute resolution skills.
  • Working knowledge of contract documents and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local building codes, ordinances, and regulations related to construction.
  • Proficiency using personal computer tools such Word, Excel, Power Point, Primavera P3 and MS Projects.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of the year.
