What this job involves: As the Regional Operations Director for a bio-pharmaceutical company, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the operational activities across multiple locations within your assigned region. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of manufacturing facilities, research facilities and commercial space. While maintaining compliance with industry regulations and internal quality standards. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will develop and implement operational strategies to optimize productivity, streamline processes, and drive continuous improvement. As a leader, you will provide guidance and mentorship to a team of operational managers, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and accountability. Your ability to analyze complex data, make informed decisions, and adapt to dynamic market conditions will be essential in ensuring operational success and contributing to the overall growth and success of the bio-pharmaceutical organization.
What Your Day-to-day Will Look Like
  • Overseeing budget performance and achieving financial targets
  • Implementing effective employee management practices
  • Ensuring operational excellence with strategic capabilities
  • Fostering continuous communication with both external and internal customers.
  • Provide leadership, vision, and guidance to the operations, maintenance, utility, and manufacturing support services functions (as applicable).
  • Manage the performance and outcomes of assigned staff members reporting to the role.
  • Establish and promote a "Safety First" culture on-site, improving safety performance through increased awareness and changes in staff and partner behaviors.
  • Ensure compliance with portfolio-wide initiatives, as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to facility operations.
  • Coordinate and manage Facility Management services within assigned facilities and geographic area.
  • Oversee all contractual deliverables at the account, regional, and site levels.
  • Support the development of facility budgets, track variances, and facilitate smooth recovery processes.
  • Manage and mentor the team, including staff development, succession planning, and compensation planning.
  • Create actionable and measurable career development plans for direct reports, facilitating ongoing progress discussions.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Location & Travel Expectation:
  • Preferred candidate located on the West Coast.
  • Travel requirement of 25-50%, with occasional need for short-notice travel.
Desired Or Preferred Experience And Technical Skills
  • Previous leadership experience in GxP pharmaceutical settings.
  • A deep understanding of the bio pharma industry, including industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices will be highly valuable for effectively leading operations in this sector.
Required Skills And Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Strong leadership and management skills are crucial for guiding teams, overseeing operations, and driving performance. Experience in managing teams, fostering collaboration, and achieving results is essential.
  • The ability to oversee budgets, achieve financial targets, and make informed financial decisions is important for successful operations management. Experience in financial management, budgeting, and cost optimization is desirable.
  • Regional Operations Directors should possess strategic thinking abilities to develop and execute long-term plans that align with organizational goals. This includes identifying growth opportunities, optimizing processes, and adapting to changing market conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. This includes building relationships with clients, team members, and cross-functional partners to ensure successful operations.
  • Regional Operations Directors should have strong problem-solving capabilities to address operational challenges and find practical solutions. This includes the ability to analyze complex situations, make data-driven decisions, and implement effective problem-solving strategies.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements and regulations specific to the bio pharma industry is important to ensure operations are in adherence to relevant standards and protocols.
  • The ability to lead and navigate through organizational changes and transformations effectively is valuable. Experience in change management, process improvement, and organizational development can contribute to successful operations.
