West Hills, CA / Transplant Diagnostics Division
The Scientist III, R&D Sequencing will work with a highly collaborative and innovative team of scientists, and take part in the different stages of assay product development for transplant diagnostics. This role will have a direct impact on improving the health of transplant patients.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop sequencing-based assays for transplant diagnostic applications
  • Prepare NGS libraries, perform sequencing runs, and data analysis
  • Participate in collaborative inter-departmental activities as the technical representative for R&D toward the common goal of producing quality products that can help improve the outcome for transplant recipients.
Education
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related field with 0 to 3 years of industrial experience
  • Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related field with 3 years of industrial experience.
Experience
  • Hands-on experience using sequencing technologies
  • Hands-on experience in the development, optimization, and validation of molecular assays, preferably clinical diagnostic tests
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Strong understanding of the underlying principles of NGS (or sequencing), DNA isolation and quantification, gene amplification methods, quantitative PCR, Sanger sequencing, and other relevant technologies
  • Effective communicator with the ability to work collaboratively with inter-departmental colleagues (Marketing, Production, Manufacturing, and Quality)
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently to handle a variety of assigned tasks simultaneously
  • Represent R&D to assist in process improvement, customer inquiries, and staff training as needed
  • Well-developed written skills to prepare regular and routine reports, reviews, and white papers, as well as preparing presentations
  • Experience in HLA preferred
  • Experience in bioinformatics and statistics preferred
