Job DescriptionPosition Summary:
The Sr Finance Business Analyst role will partner with IT to build sophisticated, technology-based solutions for the Research and Safety Division's Finance Department as well as the businesses they support. This role will meet with business partners to understand their needs, bring together requirements, coordinate with IT to align on a solution, build up a project plan, run projects, test solutions and maintain those solutions going forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues to learn about the details of complicated processes, build ways to streamline those processes, find efficiency to generate a financial benefit by growing revenue or reducing expenses.
- Lead sophisticated projects by developing project plans, setting timelines, keep team members engaged/on track and ensuring projects stay in scope/budget.
- Act as data authority by working with data, defining business rules, developing documentation and by being a point of contact colleagues' data questions/needs.
- Maintain regular touch points with finance and commercial leadership to communicate project updates and share results with appropriate team members.
- Validate and test data solutions from IT to ensure that they are accurate and that they meet requirements set forth by partners.
- Define data-based business rules, build, and maintain a repository with robust documentation for partners to reference.
- Identify and address operational, financial, and technological risks to ensure little to no disruption in projects or day-to-day operations.
- Develop training materials and presentations for up to hundreds of business partners on data tools/new processes crafted by your efforts.
- Build automated, financial reporting to replace sophisticated, manual reporting to streamline efforts and open up opportunities elsewhere in the business.
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Finance or Mathematics.
- 5 years of meaningful experience in a business-facing IT organization with proficiency in partnering with other functional business areas.
- Track record of optimally leading several projects at once.
- Expertise in Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, Jira and other, similar business technologies.
- Experience with tabular or multi-dimensional data models.
- Intermediate to sophisticated SQL skills.
- Understanding of data warehousing and data modeling.
- Superb communication skills (verbal and written), interpersonal skills, and an ability to communicate with both business and technical teams.
- Proven problem-solving skills, project management skills, attention to detail, ability to influence others, and outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and challenging objectives in a fast-paced environment.
- MBA another advanced degree with a concentration/major in Finance, Accounting, or IT.
- PMP certification or another project management related certification.
