DescriptionThe Amazon Delivery customer experience spans multiple users, devices, digital experiences, programs, delivery types, geographical locations, modes of transport, hardware, operation environments, and global communities. The Amazon Delivery Design team is responsible for the design and research across all business that form Middle Mile transportation, Last Mile deliveries, Delivery experience for our Customers, and the Returns experience. The research and insights our team delivers does not only address UX quality but the quality of lives of all the customers in the Amazon Delivery ecosystem.
The UX Research function has the responsibility to build confidence in the business roadmap, de-risk releases, and reveal opportunities to the business to keep reinventing a world class delivery experience. We design software that helps our drivers move and deliver packages to customers around the world, our operators at stations and sort centers to process deliveries and returns, partners to support a variety of logistics services, and operations teams to track and monitor billions of deliveries across the globe every year.
We need a passionate Sr. UX Researcher to help us advocate for our front-line workers while building scalable tools to keep delivering smiles to our customers. We work locally, globally, in the physical and virtual world and work backwards from the customer using a human centered design process.
Key job responsibilities
Perform all aspects of the UX research lifecycle (study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting, and communication).
Evangelize the value of UX Research to stakeholders within the Last Mile organization.
Understand product roadmaps and be able to translate them into long-term and short-term UX research plans. Identify and prioritize research questions based on the analysis of existing product designs, business needs, project goals, and risks.
Work with design, product management and engineering to come up with research requirements, execute and create frameworks to enable the execution of high quality research that addresses engineering and operational changes for streamlining delivery operations.
Conduct qualitative and quantitative studies with a focus on both generative and evaluative efforts.
Perform quick but thorough data analysis to uncover insightful and actionable results that drive tactical and strategic decisions.
Work closely with the design and product management teams to define, measure, and communicate UX research metrics and guidelines for solutions evaluated.
Develop and refine research mechanisms for scaling the UX Research teams ability to impact business decisions with customer advocacy.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Bellevue, WA, USA
Basic Qualifications5-7 years proven success leading User Research projects with demonstrated impact.
A strong portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables with product and business impact. (eg: study plans, reports, personas)
End-to-end experience with all aspects of research (study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting)
Hands-on experience with: in field user research, remote testing tools, paper prototype testing, iterative prototype testing, concept testing, field research, international research, and survey design.
Exceptional behavioral data-collection and analysis skills, e.g., designing, conducting, and analyzing all kinds of user data.
Research experience with delivery operations and retail customer experiences.
Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
An unfailing passion and capacity to advocate on behalf of our users.
BS in HCDE, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or similar.
Preferred QualificationsMS in Human Factors, HCDE, or Cognitive Psychology.
Consumer research experience in a global context.
Ability to work across multiple businesses and teams in a dynamic environment.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $226,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
