Duties
- Designs, when the complexity of the project requires it, product packaging: design of cartons, inserts, etc.
- Creates, in collaboration with our suppliers, prototypes to validate technical feasibility.
- Validates, with the project manager and the client as necessary, the design of the project before launching it into production including prototype creation.
- Lead the blistering design and packaging line operation and set up.
- Provides all the design information necessary for the Supply team to allow proper order quantities and material type.
- As required, will liaise with customers to discuss the technical subjects mentioned above.
- Specifies and/or configures the required material types and quantities needed to prepare for production: Creation of the production batch file (BOM), manufacturing stages and nomenclature ensuring adequate procurement lead times are met.
- Designs the packaging instructions, as well as the prototype, in collaboration with the production and project quality teams.
- Checks to ensure all temperature requirements are planned for and will align throughout the packaging lifecycle of the material, product, and room environments for equipment.
- Optimizes the design of projects to reduce production time and scrap, while improving quality and ergonomics.
- Actively participates in the automation of operations using available machines and the standardization of incoming items from the design stage. Identifies opportunities to simplify operations and proposes investments.
- Research solutions to improve flow and overall efficiency.
- Takes part in the technical training of operators.
- Actively leads and participates in continuous improvement projects.
- Coordinate with vendors and assist in the procurement of packaging components.
- Purchase and validation of equipment as required.
- Assist with yearly budgeting for departmental needs, including CapEx.
- Support with the change control process as required.
- Creation of departmental SOPs.
- Escalation point for all internal stakeholders.
- Works closely with all departments as required.

- BS degree in Engineering or the equivalent industry experience is required (with a strong background in, processes, and procedures).
- Experience in a fast-paced regulated environment.
- Experience in performing process improvement projects from implementation to completion.
- Experience with external supplier negotiation such as suppliers, equipment providers, etc.
- >5 years’ experience in Packaging Engineering roles or similar.
- Packaging Engineering and Packaging Design skills.
- CAD modeling
- Research and Development (R&D) and Project Management skills.
- Mechanical Engineering skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and quality assurance.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience in the manufacturing or packaging industry.
