About MYSI and Bridges Group Home

MYSI creates hope for children, young adults, and for individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve full independence and financial success by providing high quality housing, clinical case management, therapy, educational and employment support, life skills learning, and legal advocacy, empowering them to succeed. Within a therapeutic residential care setting, Bridges provides case management services for stabilization and family reunification, life skills development, recreational activities, and weekly support groups for boys aged 14 to 17 and a half. 

Position Overview

The Residential Site Coordinator supports the Group Home Program Supervisor (or Program Manager) to oversee the daily operations of their assigned group home program site(s) to create a safe, energetic, and positive environment for at-risk youth living in a group home program. The incumbent supports the Program Supervisor as the “eyes and ears” of their assigned site, monitoring the activities of youth and residential staff. They ensure adequate resources are available for the smooth operation of the home by coordinating staff schedules, procuring materials, and ensuring the facilities are maintained and secure. The incumbent troubleshoots issues and recommends solutions. This is a full-time position with additional on-call responsibilities for emergency or crisis management. 

Essential Functions 

  • Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. 
  • Ensures appropriate staff coverage levels, prepares shift schedules, and coordinates time off requests with Residential Youth Advisors (RYAs) 
  • Monitors activities of youth and staff in the home, including timely medication delivery. 
  • Assists program supervisor in creating and implementing trainings that are applicable, including new-hire onboarding training.
  • Coordinates youth appointment schedules with case workers 
  • Assists with rotating on-call duties 
  • Coaches' youth on independent living skills such as housekeeping, shopping, meal preparation, personal hygiene, and activity planning 
  • Engages with youth about their goals and interests and conducts informal milieu counseling as needed 
  • Ensures completion of all required shift documentation including but not limited to attendance log (“bed report”) and end-of-shift reports and holds staff accountable for ensuring accuracy and completion of records in Extended Reach. 
  • Assists with maintaining medication logs and other medication-related documentation and processes 
  • Reviews all RA-completed documentation including shift logs, communication logs, Unusual Incident Reports (UIRs), to ensure completeness, consistency, and accuracy 
  • With approval of Program Supervisor, coordinates with MYSI information technology and facilities staff to ensure smooth operations of programs and timely resolution of technology or facilities issues 
  • Consult with and reports to Program Supervisor regularly to ensure smooth operations. 
  • Assists the Program Supervisor in preparing for and facilitating monthly staff and youth house meetings 
  • Assists the Program Supervisor in maintaining required Program Service Binders, including life skills, fire drill, and service requests 
  • May be required to transport youth 
  • Safeguards the rights, privacy, and confidentiality of each staff member and client 
  • Completes all required trainings and certifications 
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Requirements

  • An investment in fostering healthy and effective communication in diverse environments 
  • Have significant experience working with the population that the assigned site serves, including youth who have experienced trauma and youth living with intellectual or developmental disabilities 
  • Be able to recognize escalated, activating, or triggering moments, and have the commitment and skills to de-escalate such moments 
  • At least some experience working with LGBTQIA youth. 
  • Experience facilitating programs for adolescents 
  • Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook and electronic case management systems 
  • Strong organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills. Initiative and the ability to follow through are essential.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Must be able to administer CPR, First Aid and CPI. (training available) 
  • Must meet DCFS background and transportation requirements, including a valid Illinois or Indiana drivers license and current auto insurance. 
  • Must comply with Child Care Act CH 23 Part 2215.1 Section 5.1a 6.
