Assists in the nursing care and preparation of Cardiac Cath lab patients. Functions as a member of the sterile team in donning gown and gloves, creating and maintaining a sterile field and issuing instruments to physicians.

Summary Of Duties (not All Inclusive)
- Observes and monitors the patient’s blood pressure as directed by the physicians as well as using other physiological monitoring equipment, continuous monitoring of the EKG and ability to identify arrhythmias.
- Responsible for aseptic technique, setting up required equipment, instrumentation and sterile supplies ass need for assigned cases.
- Pulling cases as needed, breaking down cases at end of procedures sets up operating room and supplies needed for day/following day’s schedule.
- Scrubbing and passing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures, anticipating provider’s needs.
- Selects the proper technical factors and positioning of the patient to demonstrate anatomy and suspected pathology.
- Ensures equipment is properly used and maintained and documented, returning equipment in a timely manner when appropriate.
- Recognizes and communicates the electrocardiographic and hemodynamic changes to the physician and other staff members throughout process.
- Available for call on assigned /scheduled basis as required by unit need. Also responds quickly and efficiently in an emergency procedure when necessary.
- Successfully completed an educational program for surgical technologists and holds and maintains certification as a surgical Technologist by: National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting OR National Center for competency testing OR Another Surgical Technologist Certification OR
- Has completed an appropriate training program for Surgical Technology in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the US or in US Public Health Service. OR
- Was employed to practice surgical technology in a healthcare facility before 9.1.2000. Current BLS (CPR).
