Reports to: Recovery Manager
Office Location: 224 West Hill Street Suite 410, Chicago, IL ; required in-office minimum of 3 days per week (hybrid work policy subject to change).

Who We Are Looking For:
The Recovery Support Associate supports NAMI Chicago’s mission by sharing their own recovery story to support Class Members in reaching their goals. Reporting to the Recovery Manager, the Recovery Support Associate facilitates support opportunities and connections to community services as resources. The ideal candidate has a CRSS or CPRS and is bilingual in Spanish and English.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
· Provides support to Class Members in reaching their goals to ensure transition into independent living or while living independently in the community, including temporary social and emotional support, medication advocacy, Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP), coping and community adjustment skills, and accessing community supports.
· Engages with Class Members during non-traditional hours and connects to their wrap around services as needed.
· Shares their recovery story as relevant to the authorized Class Member to assist them in their own recovery.
· Facilitates peer support groups and leads peer-led trainings.
· Implements NAMI Chicago support programming within SMHRF/SNF
· Works with program partners and the State to ensure a smooth transition and ongoing services and links Class Members to community resources.
· Maintains official records and reports to program staff as needed and scheduled.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated commitment to serving underrepresented and vulnerable populations, including social and racial/ethnic minorities as well as those living with mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders
- Willing to work in a diverse environment in regards to race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, and gender
- Candidate will have firsthand knowledge/experience living with a mental health condition
- Demonstrated sensitivity and compassion
- Demonstrated interpersonal and public relations skills
- Understanding of local mental health resources
- Able to travel across greater Chicago
- Well organized
- Basic computer skills
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Candidates will possess a Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) credential OR will obtain one of these credentials within 18 months of employment at NAMI Chicago.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
- Ability to travel throughout the Greater Chicago area.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word. Proficiency in Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange; Windows operating systems; and other software routinely used by NAMI Chicago.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license with daily access to vehicle. Must have $100,000/$300,000 auto liability insurance

Base Rate: $23/hour
