NAMI Wisconsin is Hiring a Program Coordinator Near Madison, WI

Program Coordinator 

NAMI Wisconsin, Inc. is hiring a full-time Program Coordinator to provide technical support to local NAMI affiliate programs. The position will focus on youth programming, community outreach, support groups, and presentations supporting NAMI Wisconsin's mental health initiatives. This position includes making and maintaining partnerships with community stakeholders such as family members, peers, youth, mental health providers, NAMI Affiliates, schools, county human services, clinics, hospitals, peer-run respites, drop-in centers, and other established community partnerships serving youth, adults living with mental illness and their families. The Program Coordinator will understand mental healthcare and will have knowledge of the Wisconsin education system. This position will report to NAMI Wisconsin’s Program Director, work closely with the NAMI Wisconsin programming team, and be an instrumental part of the NAMI Wisconsin team and organization.

Minimum qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher education, youth and child development, social services, social work, psychology, or a related field
  • Knowledge of issues facing individuals living with mental illnesses and their families
  • Experience working in a team setting
  • Highly effective communication, organizational, leadership, and time management skills
  • Comfortable with public speaking 
  • Ability to coordinate and conduct training and facilitate large groups, including schedule training, event planning, and coordinating with affiliate leaders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Microsoft TEAMS.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, in-state travel & access to a car for use for work, a valid driver's license & proof of insurance are required. (Some travel will require out-of-town stays; all travel expenses covered)
  • This is not a remote position and will primarily work from the NAMI Wisconsin office in Madison, WI

Preferred Qualifications 

  • 2 years experience working with youth
  • 2 years experience working with persons living with a mental illness or disability
  • Familiarity with NAMI and mental illness
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience with data collection and evaluation
  • Experience organizing small events and trainings

Duties Include: 

Training Coordination - 75% 

  • Support/Assist facilitators and program coordinators throughout the state which requires working closely with 24 affiliates
  • Coordinate signature NAMI and NAMI Wisconsin training classes to be held at the NAMI Wisconsin office and statewide locations.
  • Provide technical assistance to local NAMI affiliates for NAMI and NAMI Wisconsin support and youth programs
  • Working with schools on youth programs including: NAMI On Campus, NAMI Mental Health Chat, Raise Your Voice, Say it Out Loud, Let’s Talk About Mental Illness, and Ending the Silence Programs
  • Oversee and coordinate the NAMI Wisconsin Youth Advisory Council
  • Assist with the development of new NAMI programs
  • Assist with the organization of Annual Leadership Summit Event and NAMI Wisconsin Conference
  • Responsible for entering training information into NAMI database for educational programs
  • Responsible for collecting and tracking all programming data from affiliates
  • Work collaboratively with NAMI Wisconsin’s Education Coordinator, Program Manager, and Program Director.

Program Outreach – 15% 

  • Develop relationships and connections with schools and youth support agencies across the state of Wisconsin to bring youth programming to underserved areas of the state.
  • Present at related mental health conferences across the state of Wisconsin
  • Represent NAMI on advocacy committees and meetings

 NAMI Wisconsin Organization collaboration – 10% 

  • Work closely with the NAMI Wisconsin team to assist in education events held throughout the state.

Specifics: 

  • Position is full-time (40 hours per week). Annual salary range of $47,500 - $49,500 plus a benefits package, medical & dental contributions, paid holidays, paid vacation, and paid personal days.
  • Work is primarily in an office with weekly remote options.
  • This position will travel with some overnight stays, approximately, one time per month.
