Job Summary:

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking candidates to support personnel as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at the UCOR facility and project in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance UCOR's core mission. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction and assignments from UCOR staff and procedures. Pay, benefits, Human Resources, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS.

Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the most complex technical industrial hygiene work to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.

  • Maintains expert industrial hygiene knowledge of specific government agency requirements.

  • Utilizes advanced industrial hygiene techniques and diversified knowledge of industrial hygiene principles.

  • Assignments are usually self-initiated.

  • Uses independent judgment and discretion in industrial hygiene data analysis and problem resolution.

  • Develops implements and maintains industrial hygiene programs, systems, and procedures.

  • Monitors and prevents hazards and diseases that could be present in the work area.

  • Investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning industrial hygiene hazards in the workplace.

  • Recommends improvements in industrial hygiene processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment used to minimize hazards.

  • Develops and conducts industrial hygiene related employee training.

  • Participates in emergency preparedness drills and assures the quality of industrial hygiene programs.

  • Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice on industrial hygiene matters.

  • Prepares industrial hygiene reports and recommends corrective action.

  • May serve in a lead role for a team of industrial hygienists and/or support personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

Level 4:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in ES&H discipline or related science/engineering area in an associated area applicable to the program to be supported or demonstrated equivalent education, experience, and training.

  • Experience: 4 years of relevant experience required. Relevant professional certification preferred (i.e., CIH, CSP, CHP, etc.), or must have the ability to obtain professional certification.

Level 5:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in ES&H discipline or related science/engineering area in an associated area applicable to the program to be supported or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 yrs. of experience. Relevant professional certification preferred (i.e., CIH, CSP, CHP, etc.), or must have the ability to obtain professional certification.

Level 6:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in ES&H discipline or related science/engineering area in an associated area applicable to the program to be supported.

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 yrs. experience. Relevant professional certification preferred (i.e., CIH, CSP, CHP, etc.), or must have the ability to obtain professional certification.

Level 7:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in ES&H discipline or related science/engineering area in an associated area applicable to the program to be supported.

  • Experience: Minimum of 12 yrs. experience. Relevant professional certification preferred (i.e., CIH, CSP, CHP, etc.), or must have the ability to obtain professional certification.

Level 8:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in ES&H discipline or related science/engineering area in an associated area applicable to the program to be supported.

  • Experience: Minimum of 15 yrs. experience. Relevant professional certification preferred (i.e., CIH, CSP, CHP, etc.), or must have the ability to obtain professional certification.
