JOB SUMMARY

The Risk and Safety Program Coordinator will be an integral part of the NOC Risk Management Team. The position will be a key player in the continuing risk management program, working in various areas of the company to evaluate safety and risk concerns, prepare risk analysis of various operations, and the creation, implementation and management of NOC operational and safety related procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of risk management policies, procedures and training / audit programs
  • Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (near miss debriefs, Workers Comp. related injuries, etc.)
  • Conduct risk assessment of various operations and suggest procedures to minimize that risk.
  • Review existing policies and measures and make recommendations according to OSHA, NOC and other related standards.
  • Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity.
  • Record and investigate safety / risk related incidents to determine root causes.
  • Maintain incident reporting database, preparing reports for upper management.
  • Report to and work with the Risk Management Advisory Board on all related risk / safety matters.

Duties

  • Take lead in developing policies and procedures for formalizing and managing the Risk Management program at NOC.
  • Work with various departments to develop and publish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all activity-based departments or departments subject to operational risk.
  • Facilitate the integration of regulatory and operational risk requirements in the development of Policies and Procedures.
  • Create Risk Management procedures with operational managers, directors and above to make sure that each department have to tools to manage risk.
  • Support HR Department with worker comp incidents and claims.
  • Investigating causes of accidents and other unsafe conditions.
  • Visit various NOC business locations to perform risk / safety audits.
  • Collaborate with NOC Leadership and across the Company to develop solutions to internal control and process deficiencies identified through audits.

Identify and communicate process improvements and best practices.

  • Perform ad hoc appraisals, inspections, investigations, or reviews as requested by the Executive Team.
  • Create and maintain audit methods and standards used with internal auditing procedures to evaluate the operating effectiveness of business processes and internal controls.
  • Ensure risk audits are performed objectively and results are reported accurately.
  • Facilitate the integration of regulatory and operational risk requirements in the development of Policies and Procedures.
  • Sharing information, suggestions, and observations with project leadership to create consistency in safety standards throughout the entire company
  • Participating in continuing education to update knowledge of health and safety protocols and techniques.
  • Inspecting production equipment and processes to make sure they are safe
  • Assessing risk and possible safety hazards of all aspects of operations
  • Write audit reports and memorandums, and make presentations to management to communicate audit results and offer recommendations for improvement.
  • Investigate and respond to any and all OSHA communications and or violations.
  • Meet with insurance regulators and company representatives within the company coverage to negotiate rates and advise on coverage and risks.
  • Oversee LMS learning portal to ensure team members are up to date on safety and awareness training.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with risk management in the resort / adventure industry.
  • Minimum 2 years of university or technical college.
  • Knowledge of various safety and health regulatory bodies, their operation and experience dealing with them.
  • Strong public speaking and verbal presentation skills.
  • Exceptional writing skills with previous experience in preparing standardized process and procedure documents for use in a corporate environment.
  • Ability to evaluate and analyze a variety of company operations in order to document procedures and prepare recommendations to minimize risk and safety concerns.
  • Must be self-motivated and ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite programs, especially MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • First Aid or Emergancy response experience / certification preferred.
  • Ability to travel (10-15%) to various NOC locations and extended trips of 2-3 days for trade conferences. (required)
  • Operate with strong integrity with the ability to handle projects of a sensitive and confidential nature.
