NANTUCKET PUBLIC SCHOOLS is Hiring a SPED Grade 1 Mild to Moderate Inclusion Teacher Near Nantucket, MA

Position Overview: The PreK-2 Special Education Teacher for moderate to severe disabilities will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to young children with a range of disabilities. This role requires the development and implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs), collaborating with general education teachers, parents, and other specialists to ensure that each childs unique needs are met.Key Responsibilities: Instructional Planning and Delivery: Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with moderate to severe disabilities.Design and deliver appropriate lessons and activities that meet the needs of students with diverse learning needs.Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction, to meet the unique needs of each student.Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Conduct assessments to evaluate students academic and developmental needs.Regularly monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and objectives.Adjust instruction based on data collected from assessments and progress monitoring.Classroom Environment: Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment conducive to learning for students with moderate to severe disabilities.Implement behavior management strategies to support students' social and emotional development.Adapt classroom materials and environments to meet the physical and instructional needs of students.Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, and other staff to support student learning.Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, IEP goals, and other relevant information.Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school-related meetings as required.Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in special education and maintain knowledge of state and federal regulations.Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
