The PositionThis position will be providing supervisory coverage for two programs within Behavioral Health, which are Mental Health Court and Care Act. Mental Health Court is a long established program that works with individuals who are on probation and struggle with mental health symptoms to establish increased recovery to reduce recidivism. The Care Act is a new program where the supervisor would assist in developing the establishment of the staff and development of the program. Both programs involve supervision of multiple staff who would provide case management and therapeutic services for individuals and would require court activity and engagement regarding cases.
This recruitment is being conducted to fill 1 (one) full-time vacancy. The list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for up to one year.
Experience And EducationAny combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
Experience: The equivalent of two years as a Mental Health Counselor I in the County of Napa OR two years of professional mental health counseling experience with one year in an administrative, supervisory or lead capacity in the mental health field.
Education: Master's or doctorate degree in social work, psychology, counseling or related field approved by the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences to provide psychotherapy.
Licensure: LCSW, or MFT, license by the California State Board of Behavioral Science plus 2 years post Master's degree experience providing psychotherapy services OR licensure as a Clinical Psychologist or a PH.D. or Psy.D. and 2 years of clinical experience, or master's level Registered Nurse.
License or Certificate*: Incumbent in this position is expected to operate automotive vehicles in the performance of assigned duties. Due to assignments and hours worked, public transportation may not be an efficient method for traveling to required locations. Individuals appointed will be required to maintain a valid California Driver's License while employed.
  • Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e. active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position.
Other Requirements: Incumbent in this class must be willing to work after hours, evenings, weekends as required, at an out-station location or in a setting with other professionals integrated as a team.
Background Investigation: Incumbents for some positions in this class will be required to pass a background investigation in accordance with applicable law, regulation and or policy.
