About Naples Classical Academy: 

Our mission is to train the minds and improve the hearts of young people through a content-rich classical education in the liberal arts and sciences, with instruction in the principles of moral character and civic virtue. Naples Classical Academy is a growing public charter school that opened in the fall of 2021 and now serves scholars grades K - 12. Our school follows the Hillsdale classical curriculum that includes a variety of important subjects including history, Philosophy, Language Arts, Mathematics, visual arts, science, music, physical education, and others. The essence of virtue, Western philosophy, and moral character permeates our curriculum as we seek to instill a love for knowledge and learning in our scholars.

Responsibilities:

Math Teacher Responsibilities:

Planning and presenting lessons to facilitate students' understanding and application of mathematical concepts. Preparing and distributing learning material such as notes, assignments, and quizzes. Sourcing the resources and supplies needed for lessons.

• Teaching: Ability to explain algebra concepts like equations, polynomials, and graphing

• Uphold the mission and values of NCA

• Lesson planning: Create lesson plans that reflect the curriculum and state standards, and are appropriate for all students' abilities

• Assessment: Evaluate students' academic and social growth, and their ability to meet school standards

• Feedback: Provide feedback to students and parents to help them improve their understanding

• Classroom management: Establish and maintain a safe learning environment, and manage student behavior

• Communication: Communicate effectively with students about lessons and instructions

• Collaboration: Ability to work with other teachers, parents, co-workers, deans, coaches and school administration 

Other responsibilities may include:

• Developing classroom materials

• Organizing activities

• Assigning homework and grading tests

• Preparing students for exams and standardized tests

• Creating learning projects and essays

Qualities of a good math teacher include:

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Required- Bachelor Degree from accredited college or university 

• Required- Knowledge of subject area

• Preferred- Degree in Math or related discipline

• Preferred- Possession of a Florida Educator Certification in corresponding subject area or Statement of Status of Eligibility showing eligible status in such subject area

• Preferred- Prior Teaching Experience 

• Ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, push a cart, or lift during the entire shift

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, including small packages and supplies
