JOB TITLE: VOLUNTEER MANAGER
Reports to: Human Resources Director Department: Human Resources
Classification: Full-time/Non-Exempt Division: Volunteer Department
JOB SUMMARY:
The Volunteer Manager is tasked with maintaining the volunteer program for the Nassau County Council on Aging. This person will coordinate the schedules and activities for all NCCOA volunteers and create a welcoming, professional environment that promotes volunteerism in the community. Through various social media platforms, webinars, teleconferences and email, the Volunteer Manager will stay in contact with all active volunteers and keep them engaged. The Volunteer Manager will work with and supervise the Volunteer Coordinator.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Volunteer Manager will match each volunteer opportunity with the skill set of each potential volunteer.
The Volunteer Manager will track and manage all volunteer hours through Volgistics software program, gathering information from all programs monthly and create reports for the Leadership Team and Board of Directors as needed.
Recruits volunteers as needed for the following areas:
· C-1 Site volunteers – helpers/servers, entertainers, Bingo callers
· Circle of Friends/Friendly Visitors – visit home-bound seniors
· CHORE – volunteers that build ramps and provide small home repairs
· Support group facilitation – works with volunteers and helps plan programming for Low Vision and Hearing Loss support groups
· Administrative Support – help with special projects and ongoing needs for various Directors as needed
· Front Desk – recruit, schedule, and maintain a strong presence as a “first impression” for guests
· ADHC volunteers – helpers, entertainers, Pet Therapy volunteers
· Telephone Reassurance program – Place volunteers with seniors needing weekly phone reassurance and collect data for reporting to Eldersource
· Instructors for Lifelong Learning classes
· Meals on Wheels delivery drivers
· Special projects – Recruit volunteers to assist with Santas for Seniors, Senior Expo and quarterly Gardening projects, in addition to special requests from various departments
In conjunction with the Marketing Department, plan and execute the Senior Expo & Health Fair. Contact and maintain vendor list and all correspondence, reserve space.
Plan and execute a Volunteer Recognition program each year in April.
Prepare and send a monthly message to the Advisory Council.
Plan and execute two (2) Advisory Council briefings each year with the guidance of the President and CEO.
Supervise and work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and any CHORE projects that are presented to the department.
Conduct Volunteer Orientation on an individual basis to include the history of NCCOA, overview of programs, tour of facility and aging sensitivity issues.
Properly background screen volunteers per the guidelines set forth by the Department of Elder Affairs prior to offering volunteer assignments.
Maintain and periodically update Volunteer materials to include Handbook, Emergency Contact form, Friendly Visitor manual and volunteer job descriptions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The Volunteer Manager must possess a working knowledge of the Volgistics software system as well as our community care system. Therefore, the Volunteer Manager must be knowledgeable about the array of community-based services and resources available to address the needs of clients and their caregivers and have the ability to identify volunteer opportunities as they arise.

SUPERVISION:
Performs duties under the supervision of the Human Resources Director.
WORK EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
· Two (2) years Volunteer management experience preferred
· Experience working with the elderly or other vulnerable population in a customer focused environment
· Must be able to pass the Level 2 background check as required by DOEA
· Must adhere to Drug Free Workplace standards
· Must have use of personal vehicle for outreach and home visiting purposes
· Must have a valid driver’s license
EDUCATION:
BS or BA in Geriatrics or Social Work or related field is preferred.
PHYSICAL WORK REQUIREMENTS:
Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
Able to perform general office administrative activities: copying, filing, delivering, and using the telephone.
Able to lift 30 pounds.
