Nassau County District Attorney's Office is Hiring a Chief, Hate Crimes Unit Near Mineola, NY
Qualifications and Requirements All lateral candidates must: • have a Juris Doctorate (JD) Degree from an ABA-accredited law school; • be a current New York State Bar member in good standing; • reside in New York State as of the effective date of employment with the NCDAO; • 7 years of practicing criminal law with felony trial experience; • have a strong work ethic; and • make a two-year commitment to employment at the NCDAO; Duties and Responsibilities • Develop training programs to educate DA staff and law enforcement partners on hate crime statutes. • Liaise with law enforcement partners to establish a notification system pertaining to hate crime related incidents. • Work with the Office of Community Affairs and Office Immigrant Affairs in developing outreach programs to educate the public on hate crime statutes and explain hate crime reporting options. • Coordinate and attend meetings at schools, churches, synagogues, and community centers to discuss intricacies of hate crimes. • Handle all felony & misdemeanor-level hate crime cases from inception to disposition; serve as lead counsel at trial • Participate in on-call duties during the course of active hate crime investigations.
