National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems is Hiring a Member Services Coordinator Near Washington, DC

The National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems (NCPERS) is seeking a motivated and talented Member Services Coordinator to join our growing team. NCPERS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit association headquartered in Washington, DC that promotes the cause of public pensions for state and local government employees across the United States and Canada.

The Member Services Coordinator will manage activities related to the association’s membership and educational mission. This position will serve as point person on member communications, in addition to supporting educational events and office management. The successful candidate will receive the opportunity to master membership functions, communications skills and financial tracking, while helping to improve retirement security for the public workforce.

NCPERS offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits (including a pension). This is a hybrid position, with staff currently required to work two days per week at our office in downtown Washington, DC.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Membership & Strategic Alliances, the Member Services Coordinator’s responsibilities will include:

  • Managing membership communications and serving as the primary point of contact for inquiries about NCPERS, membership, and our educational events
  • Ensuring integrity of the membership database and maintaining accuracy of member records
  • Creating invoices, processing payments, maintaining financial records, and reporting on monthly financial activities
  • Developing marketing materials that communicate the value of membership
  • Managing event registrations, including payment processing, attendee tracking, and reporting
  • Traveling to approximately six (6) in-person NCPERS conferences annually to manage onsite registration
  • Providing administrative support to office operations, such as filing, ordering supplies, processing mail, etc.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical work experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in membership management or customer services, preferably in an association setting
  • Excellent communications and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with membership/sales database software (AMS/CRM) is a plus
  • Professional demeanor and outgoing personality
  • Desire to learn new skills
  • Familiarity with membership organizations or pensions is a plus

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $51,000 - $56,000, based on experience and qualifications. This position is eligible to receive an annual bonus, based on individual and organizational performance.

  • NCPERS offers excellent benefits, including a defined benefit pension, 5 percent employer match to 401k plan, fully paid health care coverage (medical, dental and vision), 14 paid holidays plus the week between Christmas & New Year’s Day, 24 PTO and 3 sick days, hybrid work schedule, and modern downtown office space that has multiple amenities and is Metro accessible.
  • Domestic travel to NCPERS educational programs and other business travel is required.
