JOB DESCRIPTION

NY Enrichment Group seeks several reliable, self-motivated, independent, fun-loving, youth Art Therapists to join our team. The art therapist will develop, plan and lead art projects for children with autism and disabilities. Instructors will use a step-by-step approach to demonstrate techniques, such as under-painting, the illusion of transparency, shadows and highlights, and value layering to illustrate foreground, middle ground and background. Students will also learn how to incorporate perspective and color theory into a painting and add depth and luminous warmth with acrylic washes and glazes. The instructor must be enthusiastic and exhibit a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to the communities we serve and demonstrate the ability to motivate, inspire and educate.

Duties include:

  • Leading art therapy classes for children K-5th grade
  • Creating curriculum & lesson plans for each session.
  • Facilitating classes that follow a social group work model
  • Responsible for managing a classroom of 15-20 students
  • Prep for classes: arriving 15 minutes to set up and prepare to start class on time.
  • Clean up: must leave locations in the condition found, or cleaner.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with staff, parents, and scholars.
  • Follow up after classes with NEG Director of Operations.
  • Maintain a positive, healthy, safe, supportive and welcoming environment.

COVID vaccination REQUIRED.

Requirements:

  • Candidate should be highly responsible, reliable, punctual, flexible, outspoken, honest, self-motivated, and work with integrity. This is an independent role, with little direct supervision.
  • Candidate should be comfortable working with children with disabilities, and comfortable working independently leading a class of students. Candidate should be a clear communicator, have a positive attitude, and be able to manage a classroom effectively.
  • Relevant performance experience

Preferred but not necessary:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • At least 2 years of experience working with youth
  • Teaching experience and classroom management skills
  • A knowledge of, and willingness to teach digital music fundamentals

Schedule & Location:

  • Thursday, June 6th (3rd-5th grade)
  • Thursday, June 13th (k-2nd grade)
  • 8:15am-11:15am

Additional programming opportunities may be available to the successful candidate.

This is a freelance/independent contractor position.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $70.00 - $80.00 per hour
