About NEW SolutionsFor over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55 ) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States.Bureau of Land Management (BLM) NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55 ) with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, technical, and other professional skills that support to the Bureau of Land Management through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).This position supports the Bureau of Land Management S. NV District Energy and Infrastructure Team. The BLM Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55 ) to the BLM to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. ?BLM ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 234 hours. ?A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date. Only those positions with 30 hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave. ?The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the BLM or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under BLM direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission. BLM ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security.
QualificationsMinimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Wildlife Biology on a BLM IDT OR BA/BS Degree in Wildlife Biology or related OR Previously completed training in Section 7 Consultation
  • Wildlife Biology on a BLM IDT, Section 7 Consultation
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint, MS Teams, MS PowerPoint
DutiesThe enrollee will function as a realty specialist for the Southern Nevada Energy & Infrastructure Team. The enrollee will work on wildlife biology topics within the scope of this position.Project work includes providing input, as requested by the Project Manager, for relevant resources as it relates to reviewing and approving survey protocols, reviewing survey results and reporting, filing paperwork and GIS data appropriately, coordinating with external contractors as it relates to priority project work, writing or reviewing NEPA analysis, conducting Section 7 consultation under ESA with the USFWS, and providing other technical input and guidance as needed.

  • Provide guidance on projects wildlife data and survey needs. 20%
  • Participate in projects with the ID team. 20%
  • Assist in maintaining internal workload tracking system, project and reference material files, and Sharepoint site, and preparing office accomplishment reports. 10%

  • Health and Safety Considerations: Field visits could have health and safety considerations.

  • Safety Gear Use: During field trips to active construction sites, as needed.
  • Physical requirements: Position will be primarily sedentary in nature but could include walking on uneven terrain, stooping, bending, and standing while viewing the field site.
  • Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
