We seek dedicated people who believe they have the skills and ambition to succeed at NREL to apply for this role.Job DescriptionAs a Site Services Specialist at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, you will play a crucial role within our Property Management team. Under limited supervision, you will assist with the administration of government personal property and property life cycle management, including Fleet vehicles. General tasks include but are not limited to acquisition (identification, records/documentation), maintenance/use (inventory, maintenance planning, compliance) and disposition (asset retirement/end of life). Your responsibilities will encompass a range of property management functions.
This position is an on-site role working from the South Table Mountain Campus.
Job Duties IncludeFleet Management
  • Develop comprehensive maintenance schedules and job plans
  • Coordinate routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, emissions, and monthly inspections.
  • Plan and schedule major repairs and overhauls as needed, coordinating with internal maintenance staff and external vendors.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and DOT/regulatory compliance requirements.
Identification
  • Identify incoming property subject to property management system control.
  • Collect and organize acquisition information for controlled items.
  • Monitor high-risk government property and tag or identify it accordingly.
Records, Movement, & Utilization
  • Create, manage, and update property records over property lifecycle.
  • Detect changes in property use through surveys and observation.
  • Re-inventory property assigned to separating employees and transfers.
Material Handling & Property Inventory
  • Handle material and government property, including warehouse support.
  • Use forklifts for material handling tasks.
  • Manage property inventory and prepare for property audits.
Property Disposition
  • Collect, screen, and classify excess property.
  • Properly dispose of property and manage identified high-risk property.
  • Document actions, update records, and generate necessary documentation.
  • Comply with procedures, regulations, and management directives
Reports
  • Research, complete, and generate and distribute applicable property reports.
  • Support GSA federal personal property reporting.
  • Manage inquiries resulting from reports.
Basic QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent and 7 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope and 5 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Extensive knowledge in specialized focused business support functions. A comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of business support activities, and their practical application to a wide variety of problems and situations specific to the discipline or field supported. Advanced skills in applicable software packages and office equipment. Considerable project administration and business services skills. Broad knowledge of specific principles, procedures, and practices related to supported fields and disciplines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, team and interpersonal skills.
  • Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • Prior experience in fleet management;
  • Experience using fleet management software (e.g. Fleetio or similar);
  • Experience using planning software (e.g. Asana, Trello, Basecamp, or related);
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.);
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
  • Experience coordinating work with technicians;
  • Prior experience with government property is preferred.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)Job Profile: Specialist IV / Annual Salary Range: $55,400 - $91,400
NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees.
