Immediate opening in Ashburn, VA. Our client is one of the nation's leading construction firms.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Safety Coordinator to join our team. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing and overseeing safety protocols and procedures on construction sites to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies. Must have data center and construction experience. Experience working around heavy equipment to include cranes.
Position: Safety Coordinator
Compensation Package:
Salary Range: $83,200 - $104,000
No per diem.
Staffing Type: 1099
Project Hours/Schedule: M-F 8-10hr shifts Dayshift and weekends if needed.
Project Duration: 12 Months

Role Description:
This is a contract on-site role for a Safety Coordinator at National Safety & Health for our client in Ashburn, VA. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing health and safety protocols, conducting safety training, investigating accidents, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The Safety Coordinator will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective safety strategies and work alongside on-site Safety Manager.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
2. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
3. Provide safety training to construction personnel on topics such as fall protection, hazard communication, and equipment operation.
4. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
5. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.
6. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to address safety concerns and develop risk mitigation strategies.
7. Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and industry best practices and ensure that safety programs are updated accordingly.
8. Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability among all employees and subcontractors.
9. Serve as a resource for employees and subcontractors regarding safety-related questions and concerns.
10. Participate in safety meetings and committees to discuss ongoing safety initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
Health & Safety, EHS, and Occupational Health skills.
Experience in safety training and accident investigation.
Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
Certifications in safety-related fields are a plus.
Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred.
ASP/CSP preferred not required
CHST required
OSHA 510 required
OSHA 30 required
Minimum of 5 years experience
1. Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, construction management, or a related field.
2. Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification).
3. Previous experience in construction safety management or a related field.
4. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations and industry standards.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and educate others on safety practices.
6. Proven ability to identify hazards and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
7. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
10. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various construction sites as needed.
