Role Description:
National Therapy Center with offices in Montgomery County, MD & Washington, DC, is seeking Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) to join our team! The interdisciplinary approach among SLPs, OTs, PTs, and BCBAs provides a unique and supportive opportunity for COTAs to join the growing department. Part-time positions are open in Montgomery County, MD. Candidates who recently sat for their exam and who are awaiting certification are encouraged to apply as well as those candidates with prior COTA experience. Here at National Therapy Center, you will be providing occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) to achieve desired patient outcomes. Clients will vary in age from young children to adolescents.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Administers treatment focusing on activities of daily living, cognition, social skills, sensory processing, socioemotional regulation, fine and gross motor development, etc.
  • Documents client performance, progress, and outcomes
  • Provides coaching and education to family and caregivers
  • Consults with Occupational Therapist concerning modifications to plan of care
  • Identifies patient/family needs for other services and refers accordingly

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an ACOTE accredited occupational therapy assistant program
  • Current and valid license to practice as a COTA in DC or ability to obtain
  • Certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • Current CPR certification
  • 1-2 years of experience working in pediatrics is preferred but open to train new graduates. Should be able to work with some degree of independence within established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines.

Physical Requirements:

  • Climb and descend staircases
  • Safely lift 10 pounds
  • Sit on the floor, kneel, or squat for extended periods during the day

Job Type:

  • Part-time
  • 3 afternoons per week (T/W/Th 2pm-7pm)
