JOB SUMMARY We are seeking a Ballistics Tech I to join our dynamic team in Belcamp, MD. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing tests and/or measurement tasks for the Ballistics department. Ballistics: Testing of energetic and inert projectiles, typically bullets, missiles and bombs. This role is crucial in ensuring the success of our innovative projects and maintaining our reputation as leaders in the space and defense sectors.
- Test Setup - Read specifications from technical documents (Test Standards, Customer SOWs, and Test Plans/Procedures), identify/prepare test equipment
- Perform Testing - Monitor tests per specifications, interact with customers if needed, troubleshoot, and document all pertinent data
- Data Processing - After test completion, verify, review and document all pertinent data. Finalize data and send to the Program Manager
- Lab Maintenance / Post-Test Breakdown - Physically remove test items. Maintain lab by cleaning all equipment, keeping calibrated instruments current, & organizing supplies
- Other - Perform other duties as assigned
- Under close supervision; completes basic technical and mechanical procedures, interacts with clients as needed, assists with basic troubleshooting, interpretation, and analysis of test results
- Basic knowledge of Ballistics & Mechanical principles, working knowledge of basic safety practices
- Basic MS Office Skills
- HS Diploma or GED; AA or AS; or trade school for ballistics testing certificate; or military ballistics training preferred
- 0-2 Years of Experience
Test lab with exposure to sudden, loud noises
PHYS ICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
