American Arab Chamber of Commerce is Hiring a Program Associate Near Dearborn, MI

Tejara Innovation Hub is an initiative of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce, focused on supporting Arab American entrepreneurs. Established with the vision of bridging gaps in access to resources, knowledge, and networks locally and nationally, Tejara offers a comprehensive suite of services tailored to the unique needs of emerging and established small businesses. Our offerings include business development programs and workshops, mentorship, access to capital, networking opportunities, pitch competitions, specialized support for startups, and a rotation of retail pop-ups showcasing our entrepreneurs. As a first of its kind incubator and accelerator focused on MENA & Arab American entrepreneurs, Tejara is devoted to turning innovative ideas into successful businesses that enhance the economic fabric of our Southeast Michigan community and bolster the region's economic landscape.

As we bridge the gap and foster economic growth within our community, we are seeking a passionate Program Associate to help build out and deliver the suite of support services This role provides hands-on support, guidance, and advice to our diverse clientele, helping them navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship and business development. 

Role Overview:

You will work closely with the Director of Entrepreneurship & Education and the Director of Innovation & Programming as an integral member of the Tejara team, focusing on the following key areas:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Individualized Support (25%) : Offer tailored advice and guidance to small business owners and entrepreneurs, addressing specific challenges and supporting them to achieve their business goals. 
  • Program Facilitation (25%) : Assist in the development and delivery of Tejara’s programs, including mentorship, access to capital, and pitch competitions, ensuring they meet the unique needs of our clientele. 
  • Stakeholder Engagement (15%) : Engage with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including entrepreneurs, community leaders, and partner organizations, to foster relationships and enhance the support network for our clients. 
  • Resource Connection (15%) : Connect entrepreneurs with the appropriate resources, opportunities, and networks that Tejara and its partners offer, facilitating their growth and success. 
  • Community Building (10%) : Actively contribute to the cultivation of a vibrant community of entrepreneurs through planning and executing workshops, events, and networking opportunities. 
  • Performance Tracking (10%) : Assist in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the support provided to entrepreneurs, contributing to continuous improvement and impact assessment. 

Qualifications:

  • Experience : 2 years in a support role within the entrepreneurial ecosystem or non-profit environment Experience with multicultural or diverse communities is a plus. 
  • Education : Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and empathetically. 
  • Analytical Skills : Strong problem-solving abilities and an analytical approach to overcoming challenges faced by small businesses. 
  • Cultural Competence : An understanding of and respect for the cultural nuances and values of Arab American communities. 
  • Entrepreneurial Initiative : Energized by working in a fast-paced, changing environment of entrepreneurship and small business development. 
  • Networking : Strong interpersonal networking skills to connect entrepreneurs with resources, mentors, and opportunities.

By offering personalized advice, facilitating access to Tejara's comprehensive suite of services, and connecting entrepreneurs with vital resources and networks, you will be a key agent in amplifying the impact and reach of our signature programs designed specifically for the Arab American entrepreneurial landscape. 

Compensation

Salary: $55,000 – 62,000, commensurate with experience
