Nationwide Children's Hospital is Hiring a Research Intern - RI Injury Leonard Near Columbus, OH

OverviewThe Center for Injury Research and Policy (CIRP), located in The Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital (NCH) in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a part time student to join the Leonard Lab. The Research Intern will work on child and adolescent injury research projects that focus on injury, emergency medicine and emergency medical services. The person in this position will be responsible for assisting on several research projects with our collaborators within NCH, Columbus Division of Fire, the Ohio Department of Public Safety and the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network, under the supervision of the principal investigator (PI), Dr. Julie Leonard.

Responsibilities PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conducts clinical study activities as outlined in the study protocol
  • Performing study procedures according to recognized skill level and certifications and within the local and federal regulations and guidelines; adheres to good clinical practices.
  • Recruits and enrolls study participants; confers with participants to explain purpose of study and obtain informed consent; explains diagnostic procedures and treatment plans to address participant/family concerns (both in person and via telephone)
  • Maintains subject records and completes required chart abstractions.
  • Records patient information in data capture software.
  • Performs other duties, including some clerical tasks, incidental to the work described herein
Qualifications KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED High School graduate with two years accredited college coursework majoring in science preferred.

50% Typing on computer
25% Answering phones
11% Miscellaneous paperwork associated with research and OSU faculty appointment
10% Acting as liaison
02% Xeroxing
02% Filing
